Huh? How do whole foods have an extremely high sodium content? Doesn't this store sell mostly whole (meaning unprocessed)produce, meats, and diary products? I am under the impression that it will be similar to Sprouts or Trader Joe's. I am just wondering "when it is coming?" I first heard of this store coming about 6 months ago and still don't see any progress being made at the proposed location. IMO it will be a welcomed addition to this town when it does arrive.

Yes, they do selll organic and unprocessed foods, but a big part of their business is ready to eat meals. I'm sure that's where the high sodium comment comes from.

Uhh, I think that comment was in reference to the old adage "take it with a grain of salt." :-)

No, the comment is from knowledge and reading the backs of cartons. The ready made entrees and family dinners are fresh, never frozen. However, as a "holding agent" (so the food lasts a few days in refrigeration), sodium is used to increase the shelf life. The Fry's in Tempe is gearing up for the opening of a nearby Tesco (oops, "fresh and easy") and they already have many "ready made" entrees and dinners. The food and choices are good, but the sodium content is over 1000 per entree!! Just be aware and choose wisely.

Salt, unless it's iodized, is a natural substance!

You're kidding. You were serious about that comment?! Oh my goodness. Obviously my sarcasm meter is now officially broken. ;-)

Although, now that you mention it...some extra sodium sounds mighty good right about now! Mmmmmm... :-)

Sorry. I thought so initially but wasn't sure. I just wanted to make people aware of the convenience but high sodium :-)

I'm looking forward to having a store that will sell whole foods and specialty stuff--I think it will be a nice addition to the city. Speaking of whole foods, has anyone been to the huge Whole Foods that opened up on Ray and Price? My wife and I just went there for the first time a couple of days ago, and my head was spinning. I could get lost in that store--it's amazing what they have in there!

i was in whole food on ray a few weeks ago, i think it was right after it was opened. seams like a decent place, but for some reason i can't pull myself away from sprouts.

I know what you mean. I really miss the Sprouts that was right up the street from me when I was living in Chandler. The selection at Whole Foods (particularly the one by Ray) is really extensive, but Sprouts is definitely a lot easier on the wallet!

I have to disagree with my husband on this one... I liked the fresh and easy market, however the reason it is so cheap is because most of the food is pre-packaged. Also, as someone who is a health food conisseur, I found their selections of stuff to be limited and couldn't find alot of what I usually buy in whole foods.. even trader joes has more selection. Sprouts is ok but i think frys and bashas has more organic foods. Don't get me wrong, fresh and easy is a welcome addition to maricopa, as we need some type of health food available here and i do commend them for trying to make it affordable but i will still have to go to whole foods to get alot of what I need that they don't supply.

Just my 2 cents.
