I would like to know who is responsibile for the dangerously lack of driving space in all the parking lots. I especially hate the lack of driving space around the gas stations. You are constantly in danger of getting hit just trying to get gas. And the space around the fast food places is just as bad. You have drive throughs coming out to blind corners and people just trying to drive through the parking lot. It is just madness. It is safer to go to the old Circle K, with it's old time access, than it is too any new establishment.

Of all of the places in Maricopa I've almost been hit, parking lots are not one of them. Drive slow and be very alert and there is really no problem. They don't seem any smaller than ones in Tempe to me.

Funny topic. I was driving over to check out Taco Del Mar the other night and a guy in a mini van pops out of the Jack in the Box drive-thru without looking. I saw him coming and stopped with plenty of room as I waved him out. He turned out and was rolling down his window giving me a dirty look....I just continued on.

and then you have your rocket scientists pulling out of the Taco Bell Drive-thru where it is clearly marked No Right Turn. Same at Sonic. but what can you do except protect yourself. Stupid people do stupid things.

I hate the configuration of the Fry's parking lot and am frustrated that it met any reasonable standard. The addition of the gas station interferes with traffic along the periphery of the lot leading to Edison Road.

On this topic, when you are backing out of a parking space and you are half way out, why do people feel the need to race past you? *insert perturbed face here*

OMG, preaching to the choir there, Java Lover. This happened to me yet again today at Walgreens. I was more than 1/2way out of the parking space when I had to brake hard for someone who was MUCH busier than I was (obviously).

Sheesh.

P.S. LOVE that photo of Java. What a sweetie!

These designs were approved by the county prior to the city taking over.
One of the worst is east bound on Smith Enke turning right into CVS.

I won't even to go CVS because it's so bad to get into there! And I agree with Frys, that is awful!

I hate that. The city could fix it pretty easily with some restriping and giving the east bound traffic a small left turn lane. I even hate it going west bound on Smith Enke because of all of the idiots that pull into the oncoming lanes.

You could always drive to Chandler or Casa Grande. I don't think there is a gun put to your head to make you do busniess there.

I think the parking lot problem is a statewide issue. If you visit all newly constructed shopping centers etc etc., you will find it's the same everywhere. It's like they just want to get the business, but don't care where the people park.

Very harsh! Maybe people want to do business here and put some revenue into this town?

My point was they are already built. If you don't like the design complaining will not do any good. I don't think they're gonna tear them up and redo them just for the few people who don't like the layout.

Besides what make them dangerous are those that think they are on 347 driving through them not thier layout. If someone really wants to make them safer complain about the speeds inwhich people drive through them and try to get speed bumps in place to slow them down.

i don't think this is the point of the thread at all.

parking lots with blind corners, too many obstacles and poor layout are the issue. Speed bumps would be nice in most of them too.

geewiz is just here to dump on every thread. Instead of helping he just wants to jump in and tell you how stupid you are. He did the same thing in a few other threads. Don't feed the trolls.

Looks like geewiz made a couple of good points and suggestions. Maybe you should read and comment instead of just commenting caveman.

Thank you. It just seems to me that they put parking spots and areas to drive, in such small areas. Like by the Native New Yorker. Making a left turn into the rest of the strip mall is very tight. Between the parked cars and the traffic you can barely make it through. Put in a couple of long bed, quadcab duelly's and you have to wait for other cars to move out of the lane. Don't get Me started on the driveway to CVS. Any one turning left into the only driveway they have is comitting a driving infraction. It is a double, double yellow line. That means the only legal thing you can do is go down Smith-Enke and make a "U" turn.
I don't have a gun to my head. It doesn't seem fair to the businesses that they lose customers because of how hard it is to access.
