Alert | Weekend Valley freeway restrictions (Dec. 21-Jan. 2)
Valley freeway construction work takes a holiday break
There’s some good news for holiday shoppers and other Valley drivers. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) says no freeway construction closures are scheduled between December 21 and January 2.
ADOT Director Victor Mendez says the agency is limiting the impact that freeway improvement work might otherwise have on holiday travelers and shoppers.
Mendez says contractors on ADOT projects are cooperating by holding off on closures until after New Year’s Day.
Travelers can stay up to date on freeway and highway conditions across Arizona by visiting ADOT’s Travel Information site at www.az511.com or by calling 5-1-1.
Mendez also urged drivers to concentrate on safe driving during the holiday season by buckling up, being patient while out on the road, observing speed limits and not drinking and driving.
