 Alert | I would like to apologize to other citizens of Maricopa for feeling that every part of the historic city is unattractive. I further apologize for stating this in such a strong manner. I do feel that these areas do, in fact, degrade our property values, perhaps less in Acacia and Rancho, but more the farther into Maricopa you go. When Home Depot goes up, everyone is going to get the opportunity to enjoy these aged "historic" structures.
I do legitimately feel confused at the fact that we don't have immediate plans to uplift that whole police station/fire department area. I do get confused that we allow our medians, the first thing people see when they enter the city, to be weed infested and trashy. I do question the city's decisions to allow hundreds of additional new houses to be built when home owners attempting to sell are literally dying from the property devaluations that have taken place. I am on the plus side still, but when I see 60 homes for private sale or rent over four neighborhod blocks, and then see new neighborhoods and houses going up by the thousands, I get a little concerned about permit mismanagement.
I would also like to apologize for feeling that the road construction project(s) have been mismanaged. Yes I am appreciative of new, better roads. That is a good thing. Yes it is only temporary. All I am saying is it could have, and should have, been done much better.

ps - and yes I don't understand a large mobile home dealer on the main roadway in Maricopa. It cheapens everything. I apologize for feeling that way as well. | | | |

Alert | The Fire\Sheriff\Courthouse complex land is owned by the county I believe. Currently we are building many new fire stations so hopefully this one will be gone down the road. Once we establish a municipal complex, that would facilitate moving the Couthouse and Sherrifs office from that location. Contact your Mayor and Council members and let them know we need action on a permanent Government complex. Also let them know that you support the use of City tax dollars to fix the medians, since the State doesn't view this as a priority. Unless they feel the Town supports doing this they will not spend what limited Money they have on doing this.
Regarding existing businesses like the Mobile home business. Do you really feel the city should tell this landowner who was using this parcel before we incorporated that they can't do business there anymore? All because the new improved citizens are now here? Once property values go up this will be replaced with something new. Compared to when I moved here close to 4 years ago, 347 looks 100% better. | | | |

I agree with you entirely, In No.California you had to prove you were gong to live in a residence for a minimum
of one year before allowing a purchase. Unfortunately the investors came , bought like crazy expecting to "flip" these houses,the market turned, leaving us with so many homes for sale and rent. Now owners who live in these homes can't sell because new builds are giving so many options. This to me is a tragedy.

You would never see the people in Chandler and Tempe getting photo radar on the 10 when they didn't vote for it. However, in Maricopa, the city government has no control apparently and they just sit back and let everything occur around them? I am not buying it.

10 and I 17 are different types of roads than a State Route such as the 347. That's why they are treated differently. You do see stop lights and intersections on the the other state highways like the 85 , 87 and 89. It's a fact of life. You also see weeds and ugly landscaping in other cities next to their freeways. We aren't unique there. Apache Junction is having the same issue and look how long they've been around. The Cow farms leaving Chandler was due to Free enterprise not Government intervention.
Regarding our medians. ADOT has a policy of cleaning them twice a year. They will allow the City to take over control of our medians. That being said that will not become a priority until the citizens let the City know they want this handled ahead of all other issues or at least placed at the top of the priority list. Instead of point fingers here why not use them to email your Council?
BTW DPS will use the radar Van in Chandler and Tempe whether it is voter approved or not if it is deemed a problem spot. | | | |

Alert | Nobody likes the cows. Anybody who likes their sweet aroma grew up in a farm and became accustomed to it or are simply what I call, "cow people". I have driven through a toxic billowy cloud of bad smell on the Casa Grande Hwy before on several occassions. This is bad for the ozone and the health of our children.
Yes. I think Fry's and Bashas are excellent grocers. Among the best I've been to. I love both the Fry's and Basha's shopping complexes. There are three nail places in Maricopa now. That is nice.
By the way, my friend tested the chlorine in the city of Maricopa water supply coming out of the faucette and it was 3.0 on the test kit. Did you know that anything over 1.5 has been proven to cause miscarriages and other bad medical side affects? I think treating the underground well water for cow feces is part of the reason for this.

I do agree that the city should act quickly to take over landscaping on the medians within the city limits. It would add a lot of curb appeal to the city and that is always a good thing.
It would be nice if the medians had nice desert trees, flowers, cactus, etc. Who knows, maybe the city could through lights up on them for the holidays like downtown Glendale. That would be pretty cool. | | | |

I think it's pretty harsh to talk about someones finances without knowing their situation. I think almost any new resident is frustrated that the retail building as slowed to a crawl. We moved here about 2 years ago and retail building was booming, now we're lucky if a new business opens up.
About the Medians... Who do we need to write to in order to make this a priority? I honestly think that we have the worst median in the entire valley. In fact I'm surprise the builders didn't get together and fork over some money to clean it up.
FYI about the downtown, we bought north of the tracks on purpose, so we didn't have to see that everyday and have our friends see it too.
I think it's hilarious that people are thinking denna needs to move to Beverly hills or PV all I think she's hoping for is for Maricopa to be like any other suburb in the valley | | | |

I think the point is, we all knew what we were getting into when we moved here. No we are not complacent, there are a whole lot of people that are out there doing something, whether it's being involved in parks and rec, opening a business, serving on some other board or commission.
Point is get involved. Don't just get pissed off and then start complaining and dragging people down who have been here a lot longer then you or those that are happy.
Be the change you see in the world.
