Alert | What the hell are they doing? If this is true, thousands will be stuck in traffic gridlock for hours out there. Please call and email Brock Barnhardt and Teresa Welborn at ADOT about this so this doesn't happen!!! BBarnhart@azdot.gov and TWelborn@azdot.gov Teresa's phone number is (520) 388-4257 Office and (520) 419-8755 Mobile | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | | My carpool partner called ADOT and they said the Southbound lane will be closed from 6am to 2pm. The Northbound lane will be closed from 2pm to 7pm. (this response also posted in another thread)

Alert | | I'm so sick of the construction delays. It should not take this long. It'll be over 6 months in duration by the time they get the 2nd left turn lane put in. These ADOT morons need to have this stuff done at night. Glad to see our tax dollars are being spent wisely. | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | | There was no construction this morning. I pray that they do things in the off hours like skgiro stated.

If it makes you feel any better - it took over 18 months when they built the current 347! 18 months of closures, delays, pilot cars for MILES and driving on a single lane for both directions dirt road!
That's in addition to the year it took to rebuild the bridge over the Gila River.
This was before the advent of cell phones. If your spouse didn't show up at the appointed time (like for dinner!) - you figured they were stuck in traffic and would be home eventually.

Alert | | Yes, it could be worse... but there is still no excuse for this. This is a multi-million dollar project and the people running it have no clue what they are doing. | | They are who we thought they were!

Alert | | Why don't they start after the majority of people are at work at 8 and finish when we are starting home at about 4? Is that so hard?

Alert | This is what I have been saying all along. The city of Maricopa can influence these things even if ADOT owns the project. This is why our city politicians have failed us and will repeatedly fail us. Don't you think a call from someone of authority would make a difference to the people running the show on this mess? The answer is yes.
And Jason, what is your excuse this time for them not doing it in the late evening hours? Does the rubberized coating on the road paint only dry during the daytime hours? Does the UV rays of the sun somehow make concrete barriers come up easier? Oh I am sure there is some hokey excuse for allowing them to subject us to more traffic hell after falsely claiming the road construction was completed.
This is the worst run construction of all time.

I don't know what your problem is, but the rubberized asphalt could not have been done at night. Whether or not this can be done at night, I won't speculate. I don't know what it takes to mill a rumble strip onto the shoulder, what the equipment availability is, etc. If you want answers, you should ask ADOT or the city (if you think that they can do anything). But the rubberized asphalt was not an excuse. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | Just call me LATE for dinner! | | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! this is unacceptable! they should have build the road on the space station and dropped it off overnight! whats wrong with those idiots at adot! don't they know anything!?!
i love the people that complain but yet have absolutely know idea what sort of work, equipment, and management it takes to complete a project like this.
if you can do better go here and fix the problem!!!

This project took a little longer because the City made some demands for it. Because of that the North bound lanes get done in the afternoon opposite of rush hour and the southbound get done in the morning opposite of rush hour. The whole duration of this project my commute was impacted at most 6 times. That is a good record in my book.

Alert | | People are never happy. ADOT seems to be doing a pretty good job. We commute early and have only had a problem once or twice since the start of it all. When the road is completely done they will find another reason to complain. Maybe it will be too nice.

Would Riggs be the road to take to get out of here and hit QC/Alma?

Alert | | Based on the posts above, it sounds like there won't be an impact, but if you want to be absolutely sure, I think you can take Riggs. |

Alert | 347? Expect delays EVERYDAY!
Then, if by some miracle, you don't experience any, you'll be not only prepared but pleasantly surprised.
