Going SB on the 347 from Casa Blanca is now 55mph all the way. The 65mph signs were taken down and DPS is taking advantage of all the people who don't pay attention. Usually I wouldn't warn people, but I fell into this little trap last night. Thankfully I was doing 63mph because my speedometer is apparently wrong and reads slow.

I noticed this the other week. It is absolutely ridiculous, because the other direction is 65 and since there are no speed limit signs after CB, traffic turning on from CB is free to go 65. It makes no sense. I'm going to email the construction company and see what they say. They corrected the strange speed limits during the construction months ago when I emailed them.

At any rate, as long as you are going 65 or less, you can only get a Waste of Finite Resources ticket. It won't even affect your insurance.

Or you could ignore the ticket and not sweat it.

That might work, so long as they don't make examples out of the first few hundred people, in an effort to prove the efficacy of the program.

The ticket is civil and not criminal, if you ignore them most of the time they go away. It costs more money to follow up than it is worth. By the way did you see the van today? I did not see it in the usual spot.

With all the serious collisions at the entRACE to RED, they have been trying to get folks to slow down coming INTO town. I see nothing wrong with it.
Slow down and be safe.
It might take you a whole extra 20 seconds or so........

Reality check: The Casa Blanca intersection is miles away from the RED intersection, which already has a 45 MPH speed limit. If these photo vans are so great at slowing people down, post them where it makes sense, not lower the limit on sections of open highway.

If that is the case then why does it catch northbound traffic as well?

Funny thing...
When you pass Casa Blanca, you expect to see a 65mph sign. They are gone.... BUT... as you come into town there is a sign telling you to reduce speed to 55 and then to 45.
Yea, I would argue a ticket for doing 66MPH between CB and RED.

Let X=X

Regardless, I got my warning and told my wife to keep it below 60mph. As for the civil ticket, I understand that, but by ignoring a ticket, you get a suspended license along with warrant for your arrest.

Has anybody noticed if they have had the warning signs out that they are required to have? I've looked and have not seen them nor has a friend of mine that lives here as well.

That's the thing, these vans don't issue tickets. You don't get a ticket unless they decide to serve you for ignoring their "snitch ticket" that carries no legal weight.

What was the actual warning for? How is anybody to know what the speed limit is if they are entering 347 from Casa Blanca and there is no speed limit sign till it's time to slow down at maricopa? For all you know it could be anything from 45-75mph....A speeding ticket in that zone would never hold up in court..

and that's the point you make to the judge!

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

The default speed limit is 65. That's how you're supposed to know.

So if the non-posted speed limit is actually 55 how does that make the "default speed limit" 65? Never heard of a "default speed limit" other than residential streets and school zones, we all know those are 25,15.

347 is getting out of control:

1. you have speed demon zig zagging through traffic
2. you have people t-boning, head on collision, or run over to the opposite traffic and cause accidents
3. wildhorse pass is a suicide turn into 347
4. speed limits are choppy along this highway
5. construction crew throwing their trash along the highway (adopt a highway my *******!!!!)
6. ADOT continue to extend the construction period
..............WHAT ELSE?!!!

i don't like people who uses "signature" on their profile. TAKE IT OFF!!!
