Alert | Yeah heard that too. I missed most of it cause I wasn't paying attention.
Then I heard like
60% involved native indians
35% people above the age of 60
4% DUI / Falling sleep
1% single car accident
But they said it was a a short road.. and they don't think this is the most dangerous via the number of cars that pass though it..
There is a train crossing in South Dakota I read that said that for every 2 trains, there are 1 death..
so...
347 has a ton of cars on it..
The 101 still has more accident per hour than any road in Arizona. | | | |

"Maricopa Road was a two-lane county road, but has been upgraded into a wide four-lane divided state highway. This doesn't seem to be a major transportation corridor -- there are certainly places where such a reconstruction are needed much worse."

Alert | Jason, it is just more Hyberbable, so they can justify driving in the left lane.
I have thought about this more and they will make good blockers for the Speed Camera's. We may be better off not beating on them just let them sit in that lane and use them to block the camera. They will get the ticket, not us. | |

Alert | When Maricopa/ADOT did a traffic research project in the past year, they discovered there was more traffic thru Maricopa than Casa Grande. Unbelieveable huh?
I still say that ADOT should make the nation's bigrigs go from I8 to I10 as that is the freeway system designed for their use. They should no longer be able to take the shortcut thru Maricopa. It won't solve all our problems, but anything helps.

Arizona DOT has identified this through stats. This is not arguable. How many people have died on this road in the last 12 months?
The argument that it is not reminds me of Monty Python and the Holy Grail when it comes to the killer rabbit. It’s just a bunny, Look at the bones!
The 347 has many bodies in its wake. That is a finite fact.

Alert | | Gotta say, I believe they should eliminate that short road. Make it a DEAD END where the stop sign is. Deaths on that road would come to a standstill. The Gila River FD can go to I-10 when they get a call for Southbound. There is nothing along that road that can't live without it. No entrance ramps, no lights, just a dead end!!!! I saw a fatal last Saturday afternoon. T-BONE 64 yrs. old. I am sad to say that I saw him still in the car DEAD. He was turning left from that short road. | |

347, Maricopa, Pinal County, Queen Creek Blvd + most dangerous roads in America came up with nothing when you put them all together. The only bad road in Phoenix according to them is Indian School Road where 27 pedestrians have died in 5 years.
I can get the 10 ok in the morning. The lights are a pain and to have them there in the first place on a 4 lane highway is stupid and it's only going to get worse with one more set coming on line soon. We needed clover leafs and overpasses

You are correct. This "news story" did not happen as stated. The only thing out there was a story about photo radar being placed on 347 because of an increased number of accidents on that particular highway.
Statistically, there is no way 347 can even be close to the most dangerous highway in the nation. When you can do a snap search and find twelve deaths this year on a highway in Michigan, nine on a highway near DC, nine on three separate freeways in California, four just within the past 90 days out on I-40, and so on and so forth...the numbers do not add up. I think this overheard news report was either misconstrued or misunderstood. | | | |
