Too bad the Section 8 thread was deleted. Seems the majoritynof the people don't want you here. But, I on the other hand wish you luck if you come out here to Maricopa.
Please be advised that some might think you're lazy and mooch off the government.

Good Luck!

Estimate about $400 for utilities. Maricopa electric and water is insane.

Casa Grande may have apartments that accept Section 8 and it's 20-30 minutes south.

Personally, I don't think you are lazy at all. I understand disability and don't listen to others who say negative stuff... they are all around, not just in Maricopa.

I do agree, though, that it is VERY hard to live out here if you can't drive far distances to a job and if you don't have a car, you will be totally out of luck. Also, gas prices to get to any job might outweigh the lower housing prices. I can tell you that I used to live in Chandler (closest areas to Maricopa) and my husband and I had a 2 bedroom apt and we paid over $900. Nearest areas to Maricopa- Chandler/Ahwatukee are very expensive, rent wise. Try Casa Grande.

If you do move here, I run a group for the chronically ill. PM me for more info!! Good luck!

also, if you have a disability and need help finding affordable housing, you might want to try some of the independent living centers here. You can google them or if you need more help finding one, PM me.

Don't move here unless you like long commutes and people who run red lights.........

I would ask your local goverment for contact info. I remember reading on here whne the Butt heads were downing Section 8 people that there is a listing of house that do accept 8's.

I hope things work out for you and you can be closer to your family!

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.
