Can anyone help me figure out what kind of babysitting rates one can expect to pay/charge? More specifically for an older, experianced sitter? I come from the East Coast and I understand its much different here.
1) How much per hour one child?
2) How much each additional child?
3) Overnight?

I don't usually use a babysitter, but I know a lot of girls that do babysit. They charge $8-$10 and hour depending on how many kids and who they are babysitting for. These are all college age girls with a lot of experience. Hope this helps.

I might have the same girls in mind as Mo739 but as well $8-$10 and hr and normally when there are more than one child it is just a few dollars more. They are also daycare experienced and college girls. Krystal would possibly do overnights. PM me if you want their emails.

Yeah, it depends on age/exp. I did it for 50 cents an hour per child when I was 10....lol. But when I was 14 I got paid around 10 an hour for 2 kids.

the going rate in centers is $4.00/hr and many home daycares do the same but nights always seem to be more if your dealing with anyone under 18

i always paid $2/hr/child. $8-$10/hr!?! okay, i could see maybe if it was like fri/sat date night. but for a working hours sitter, that's insane. imagine what you'd have to make per hour at your job to be able to afford your sitter!!!

It's really just out here in the 'Copa... People charge ridiculous rates for daycare/babysitting out here.. This is why we chose to go into town, near my work, for care...

$8-$10/hr for a date night? Sure... for consistant daycare during work hours?? You're on crack.. Most fully licensed daycare facilities aren't even in that range.. and they have activities, schedules, curriculum, insurance, etc...

AzSandSlinger- I don't know what daycare you are looking at out here, but I don't know anyone that charges $8-10 an hour for daycare! Everywhere I have seen is $125-$150 for a full-time week. That works out to $3 an hour here in MAricopa

"Babysitting" is different from "daycare," I think. Day care is more consistent, so you're paying more but less an hour. Babysitting is more like an occasional thing where you have a date night and someone comes over to watch your kids for a few hours. That is more expensive because most teens don't want to give up a Fri. night for like $15. Plus daycares are making more money off you over the week, so of course they lower their rates, sort of like buying economy-sized stuff at Costco, lol.

$125-$150 per week

that's the going rate in Tempe.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.
