Alert | | Put some lansinol gel on it and keep on working at getting him to open up. I has to usw a nipple sheild for a little bit and once he started opening and eating well with that I would switch to the breast again. Just fone give up. Your baby and you will work though this

Alert | | use lansinoh for the healing between feedings. you don't have to wash it off. he's hit a growth spurt and it sounds like bad latch. this sounds worse than it is: use your finger to push his jaw down and then shove your nipple/areola into his mouth. he'll get the picture eventually. if you can contact a lactation consultant. i wouldn't use a nipple shield though. good luck!

Alert | I used a shield when it hurt so much I felt I just couldn't let my baby nurse anymore. It didn't affect his ability to bf at all, and it really helped the soreness. I loved lansinoh too, it will ruin your bra or shirt though so be careful.
Good luck getting him to latch correctly if you can get him to open wider it will make a world of difference!

Alert | | nipple shields are wonderful!!! My son didnt know how suck right and did the same to my nipples. Also if you dab your own milk all around your nipples and let it dry, the human growth hormone in the breastmilk works miracles! Its will soften them over night! I hate Lansinoh gell because it was sticky and stained my clothes! | | Bye Bye Maricopa!
