Alert | | Maricopa Groves Parkway has a 35 MPH limit - no driveways onto the road. Butterfield Parkway has a 25 MPH limit - no driveways onto the road. I quite often see police giving tickets there. Was Butterfield Parkway set up to be a speed trap? There appears to be no necessity for other than a 35 MPH limit on that road, just as it is on Maricopa Groves Parkway. Or why didn't they put a 25 MPH limit on Maricopa Groves also? IOW, exactly the same type traffic, but different speed limits. Can anyone explain it? | | Proud conservatives happily living on our acreage in the beautiful mountains of Hidden Valley with no HOA.

Alert | There is a lot that goes into speed limits. Usually, there is an EIR, that determins traffic, children and general traffic expected. (Enviromental Impact Report) I do agree that certain ares should move up to 35mph. I also agree with 25MPH in the villages.. Too many kids... too often. BTW, the tickets are given for driving 11 MPH over the speeds limit. (usually)That makes a 25mph area 35, and a 35mph area 45. Both are too fast for the reasons stated.

Alert | | Hmm... I was quoted "about 5 MPH over" is when they issue tickets. The Villages, and RED, should be 35. Kids should not be playing on the street and drivers should slow down when kids are around. We should not dumb the speed limits down to the most hazardous situation. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | Jason, Kids do play in the street. People should slow down... Kids do get hurt. Does this ring a bell? "Game off, Car" "Game on" That is how kids play. In this area, kids are learning this and playing. We, as Adults are charged with making sure the kids are safe.

Alert | | Kids shouldn't be playing on Butterfield, at all, because it is a collector street, it carries a sufficiently high volume of traffic. They should on their neighborhood streets with houses on them. Streets with houses should be 25 and cars should figure out that they need to slow down when kids are present and collector streets such as Butterfield and RED Pkwy should be 35 and if there are a lot of pedestrians, drivers should figure out to slow down. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Rancho El Dorado, why...?</div>
Than worry about the speed limits in Rancho El Dorado and let me worry about the speeds in Villages at Rancho El Dorado.
I think that 25 miles an hour is fine. If you give people 35 mph they will take 40 mph or 45 mph. You know that human nature will always push the speed limit. Just look at the 347. Speed limit on the 347 is 65 but people do 70 (which you yourself do) or even 80 mph (15 mph over the speed limit).
Twenty-Five mph is fine. That way if they do 35 ...instant Ticket. As a father of a small child and Teen, I think that it is better to be on the safe side. The fools already tear through the housing areas at 30 and 35. Peeling rubber and hauling butt down the street.
So... To all who are concerned about the VREDS 25 mph speed limit and don't live here... BUZZ OFF! It's our problem!
Enough said? I hope you get the point.
And no... I am not angry... just passionate...(lol)
