hmmmmmmmmmmm??

Anybody else notice that the time to grade and repave 347 from Maricopa county line to I-10 was done it what seemed to be 2 weeks, while the Pinal side took over 2 months? Is there bigger incentive to finish in Maricopa county? Why can't they work that fast all the time?

Please....nobody say that the Pinal side was 11 miles and Maricopa only 6. If they worked the same pace 11 miles would be 4 weeks....not 8.

Just an observation!!!

they aren't done yet.. and it's not as long as the other paving project.

I must say, it was a stroke of smarts to have graded, then pave at the same time...

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

Almost. The left lane in both directions went milled but unpaved for several days, but it wasn't as bad as the other half. I want to know why the two lanes are at different heights...

Thank you Jason! I was thinking to myself, what in the hay is this??! They couldn't grade the darn lanes at the same height or something? I really hope they don't plan on keeping these lanes as is... And what about the gaps BETWEEN the lanes?! While they may have done the job in a much shorter time frame, the way the road is left is almost as bad as what it was before they repaved. I think the survey team was half asleep as they were cutting/filling the pavement!

i just don't understand the thinking behind the entire project. seems to me that they didn't have a plan for the entire thing, just bits and pieces and hope they all match up.

I don't know much about the project as a whole, but I do know they are not finished and it won't be completed until at least next spring-ish.

They still have to overlay the new asphalt with the rubberized asphalt, which will make for a smooth, quiet, chip free commute for those of you traveling into the valley every day.

I do know in order to complete it, it has to be at least 85 degrees and rising. (amb.temps) Otherwise, it won't set properly.

The northern or Maricopa County side was far more efficiently done. It was also amazing or odd that the grated surface was not as bad as well as cleaner, less rocks. Which in my mind shows we had a lousy contractor.

Same contractor did both counties.

Figured it out: the thicker side is: rubberized asphalt! It has to be. Driving home I noticed that shortly after the curve the right lane dropped down abruptly and become noticeably louder and rougher.

It isn't rubberized yet. As I said in an earlier post, they cannot apply the rubberized asphalt until the weather is above 85 degrees and continues to rise. The rubberized asphalt will be applied sometime this coming spring when it starts to warm up.

When the rubberized asphalt is down, you will think the quiet asphalt now is loud. I promise!

Well then what is it they are putting down and why is it so much quieter than the shorter section?

It sure feels hot enough and it looks like the rubberized stuff north of Riggs...I believe they still need the final layer south of riggs.

Also, the quality of work looks better s/o the county line.
