Did anyone notice the water feature was flowing with greenish water today? I never saw this before. I will call Jeannie if it is still green over the next few days!

That fountain has become an eyesore. They really need to do a better of job of keeping it clean.

It was green? Ewe! I thought it was just a special shade because of the new light! Silly me. I'd email Jeanne.... we are supposed to have a company that comes out every week (i think) to maintain the fountain, but maybe they need to add some chemicals. or... maybe someone put food coloring in the fountain!!! ugh!!!

I have not a clue as to why it is green. Drove past it tonight and my truck windows were down and I did not smell a funk coming from the fountain, I did however notice the awsome lights! Thanks Love Science, I was missing those lights.

I thought it looked yellow (I did have my sunglasses on, so maybe it was really green!) and kind of soapy. Since it looked soapy, I thought maybe it was a chemical treatment for the nice black mold stripe we've got going on. Then again, the mold looks to be above the water line, so I'm not sure - if it is soap/chemicals, after all - that it's actually able to reach it and treat it. Any word on this? I'm happy to send an email, too - in fact, I'll go do that right now!

Love Science,
Is that a different co. who cares for the fountain other than the grounds keepers?

The fountain needs a little more of something other than what is already up there. I suggested to Jeannie several 8'-10' date palms staggered in between the stone colums! I think some thing along the hillside to keep it from washing out durning storms! We did have that one huge tumbleweed, but that doesn't count! The South entrance need a little bling too!

Welcome to the land of reclaimed water....aka POOP water.

We have had our own battles and continue to have them at CF.

Can you say "Acid Injector System" to keep the sprinkler heads cleaned from all the goop?
Can you say Thousands of dollars for a new filter on the pump?

H2Ology is one of the companies that we work with at CF and they sometimes put this blue looking die into the water and that occasionally (depending on the quantity they use) will turn the water blue. That freaks people out too.

We are working with two companies at CF for our Lake Maintenance - H2Ology and Well Done Pumps.

We are going to have a special filter installed that is in between lake water pumped out, and the acid injection tank. It basically filters particles out of the water before going to the acid area. It is highly recommended this is to be in place.

The current Filto-Mat filter that is in place needs approx. $2000.00 work done to it to make it operable, and is no longer made.

I understand that all the lakes/water features that any of the homebuilders use in Maricopa are made up of reclaimed "poop" water.....Our contact from H2Ology along with our management company is trying to work with Global Water to see if we can get a better "mix" of CLEAN water along with the reclaimed water.
Aka, we are trying to reduce the poop water.
I can't believe I am talking about this....but this, my friends, is the reality that we face.

So according to H2Ology our best attack is start by getting a LESSER amount of reclaimed water and a greater amount of clean water from Global. That's our first attack.
After that, it's all about the quality of the pump, a perfect blend of chemicals and an acid injector system to keep this all running smoothly and our sprinkler heads clean.

It's amazing what a few chemicals will do. The water needs to be watched more closely and tested more often for this exact reason.

It's amazing how fast it can turn. Even though the water is clear again it won't stay that way unless all the algae is cleaned off the rocks and base of the pond.

I do believe that the fountain is maintained by different companies.... one for the pump and such and then another for the water & cleaning. I could be completely wrong, but I think I remember hearing about this.
The algae (or whatever it is) is pretty gross, but it seems to have died down over the past few days. Hopefully someone can figure out what to do to make it look nice. The idea was thrown around about putting a catfish or something in the fountain, however, there was concern about the little brats that put soap in the fountain and then we'd have to deal with a messy fountain and dead fish! ewe!
