Alert | Thanks for meeting for our FIRST SUCCESSFUL 2007 Social Committee Meeting at Native New Yorker on September 1st at noon. What's Labor Day? There was NO REST for the wicked allowed! ha! It was great fun and wonderful to meet you all.
SO here's what came of the first meeting:
1) We agreed to share our contact information with each other. A sign up sheet was passed around, the results of that were emailed to the parties present plus three additional volunteers who could not make the meeting. Please review that email/attachment and respond to me with changes or updates.
2) We agreed to take Trash Patrol Duty for the Labor Day Weekend. This will save the community money and will ensure that the pool area/ramada looks great for the Labor Day Weekend: Here's the break out:
Saturday After the meeting approx 2pm Kimberly made the first pass of the pool. Kimberly checked again at 5pm. Richelle agreed to come in the evening and make another pass.
Sunday Kimberly checked the pool around 9am. Liana to go back and check from 1pm on.
Monday Karen has agreed to do trash duty the entire day.
Updates from Kimberly for Saturday and Sunday: I wanted to let everyone know that I was wrong, there are not TWO trashcans....there are three. I have left 4 big trash bags under a broken pool table by the pump room inside the pool area. Trash on Saturday DID NOT need to be picked up. Surprisingly, the trash cans were barely used. This morning (Sunday) there were two twenty something couples there and a mom and her children. The trash once again, did not need to be taken out.
On Monday when I get back from Flagstaff I will call Liana and Karen to find out if they had to pick up any bags. If so, my trash can is EMPTY in my garage.....I can swing by and get the trash and put it in my trash can.
3) Ideas for the Up Coming Months:
September - Dessert in the Desert. We intend on idenfifying major streets in each of the parcels that could kick off a Desserts in The Desert. We will be fliering (is that a word) so that parcels know what's happening and when. ....that is, on a designated Saturday night per an organized "Street" schedule (aka, Pioneer Road will hold this on Day X at Time Y) after dinner, please come outside with your coffee/drink of choice and have a table in front of your house with after dinner desserts. We envision this to be simple cookies, or coffee treats (biscottees--spelling) , after dinner mints...whatever.....This will give neighbors a chance to walk around and meet other neighbors in a casual atmosphere.
October - The Phantom Ghost hits the community. The Phantom Ghost is simply a flier attached to a bag of store bought goodies that states something cute to the effect of you have been hit by the Cobblestone Farms Phantom Ghost...please attach this flier to your door so that the Phantom Ghost won't be here again.....then copy this flier twice and leave it with a bag of treats on two of your neighbors homes. This is a fun activity that some of the folks in Cobblestone did last year. The social committee intends on getting this started in all of the parcels.
November - Invite Police out to bring their fancy car, do the car etchings, and do the children's fingerprinting. Perhaps at this event we can do an AROUND THE WORLD potluck where anything goes. We will also be asking for charitable contributions in the form of CANNED FOOD to be collected for the City of Maricopa Food Bank. Perhaps even have Ice Cream Social???? And consider renting a bouncy or two for the children???
January - Community Garage Sale. To be held ANNUALLY the Saturday BEFORE Super Bowl.
4) Also tossed around some ideas how we can assist more with minor repairs, etc. All were eager to step to the plate and volunteer however they could. Sooooooooo----I am going to talk with the HOA board and let them know that we can be rallied to assist if there is another incident of graffiti, etc....and we can come together and help clean up.
5) Next meeting to be held at Liana's home. THANKS LIANA!!!!! I am waiting to hear back from Richelle to find out her Saturday schedule......once we get her schedule we will set the time with Liana. Next meeting to be this coming Saturday, September 8th. Danielle is going to bring copies of the maps of Moonlight at Cobblestone Farms so we identify major streets that we would like to have the Desserts in the Desert on. We will be putting together the fliers or at the least the verbiage for them...and then coordinating on how to get copies of the fliers and get them hung on the ~900 homes that are in Cobblestone. Also we will be talking about a newsletter/flier for upcoming events (aforementioned in this email). Also would like to know if Fulton Homes would like to kick in some cash for the activites in November or otherwise. I will check with management compony on that.
If I have missed anything or have made a mistake, please feel free to modify this information and sene me updates.
Thanks So Much
Kimberly

Alert | Meeting Minutes from Saturday, September 8th
Newly Decided: LAVENDAR is our newly decided Signature Color for the Social Committee.....fliers, A frame signs, etc will be lavendar in color (some exceptions noted, such as the Phantom Ghost flier----it's going to be white because folks who recieve it on the doors will be asked to make their own copies and pass on the love.....we can't control what color they choose to make their copies...therefore we are going to keep it white!) We felt it important to establish our own color so that neighbors would be more likely to read fliers, postings, etc instead of just blindly tearing them off and throwing them away.
Sunday, September 9th Liana to contact me in the morning after she gets our Desserts in the Deserts flier completed. She is also going to do an "Organized By: Cobblestone Farms Social Committee" entry for the Phantom Ghost flier. I will pick up the originals from Liana, purchase Lavendar reams of paper, and after church proceed to make the following:
Enough lavendar copies for 900 homes announcing our desserts in the dessert activity. If she can get four per page I will only have to make 900/4 = 225 copies....this all just depends on how many she can fit per page. Nonetheless, I will have enough copies made to cover 900 homes.
I will also be making 8 full size copies for the A frame signs that Paul has agreed to make. Paul gave us a rough estimate that the cost would be between $80-100 for the four A frames......
NOTE: I think ultimately Paul will be making 4 A frame sign holders (double sided with cork and plexy glass + painted lavendar). He is to have TWO of the A frames done in time for our first Dessert in the Desert activity but just in case I am going to go ahead and make 8 copies of the announcements for the sign holders in case he gets them all done.
I will also be making 10 original copies of the Phantom Ghost fliers so that we can save them for next year.
I will then be making 32 copies of the Phantom Ghost flier with the verbiage: Organized by Cobblestone Farms Social Committee
I will return all photocopied items to Liana on Sunday when I return home.
Liana is going to work on cutting the fliers and begin to hole punch them.
Danielle is going to purchase additional rubberbands for this. Liana already has some rubberbands at her home.
Tuesday, September 11th Michelle and Danielle are to meet Liana sometime during the day at Liana's house and start putting rubberbands on the fliers to be able to hang them on door knobs/handles.
Wednesday, September 12th and Thursday, September 13th Everyone who can meet is going to meet at Liana's house to start fliering homes. We are going to meet at Liana's at 6:00pm to start our activities.
The order for the Desserts in the Desert:
1) Adobe Circle beginning at 6:30pm on September 15th 2) Gibson Drive beginning at 6:30pm on September 22nd 3) Sunset Drive beginning at 6:30pm on September 29th
On the day of the event, it's my understanding that we will have the A frame signs out on the road that the event is occuring on. They will have balloons on them. (Karen to check on balloons and cost....perhaps we can volunteer here to get them on that day?????)
The social committee will be meeting at Michelle's home on those days at 6pm. We will be going to each of the streets and setting up our own table and chairs with desserts.
The fliers that will be on home owner's doors will explain that the streets that are listed are the streets that we would like to have neighbors COME OUTSIDE at 6:30pm....just sit in front of their homes with some sort of dessert......other neighbors hopefully on adjacent and neighboring streets should COME OUT and do a meet and greet. It's the social committees goal to have neighbors get to know neighbors.....we are going to ask that neighbors doing the walking should bring their own beverage of choice....and if they also want to carry out some goodies to share...please do so. Otherwise, the neighbors on the streets identified should try and have some goodies sitting out for their neighbors. This can be store bought and doesn't have to be fancy. Cookies, mints, whatever....
IN ORDER FOR COSTS TO BE REIMBURSED THROUGH THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE A VALID RECEIPT MUST BE TURNED INTO KIMBERLY HUNTER.
Looking ahead into October:
Karen is going to purchase 32 bags for the social committee to fill with goodies. Liana is going to purchase candy to fill the 32 bags.
Sunday, Sept 30th We are going to meet and stuff those 32 bags at Liana's house at 7:00pm We will then be driving to the 8 parcels and dropping of 4 bags in each of the 8 parcels. Hopefully this will kick off our Phantom Ghost activity.
If I have forgotten anything please let me know.

Alert | | You should be within a block or two of one of those streets, and only one of those streets. They sort of make up the perimiter of CF. The people on those streets are the 'hosts' and we are the 'guests'. Do you know what 'Parcel' you live in? | | ..... If you can dream it, I can build it.

Alert | Thanks to all for the Adobe Circle Desserts in The Desert. We had a low turn out; however, those that were able to attend were appreciative and glad that the social committee finally did something. Let's all try and get together for the next event on Gibson....... There are still two more parcels to complete/flier. I am going to try and do them this week.....if anyone wants to help/volunteer let me know. Throw in what days you are available and let's get a move on it. I will be free this week beginning at 6pm M-F. On a side note, I'd also like to thank Michelle E for coming over to my house and removing the spider from my son's room. I know it is going to become food for her turtle which means that it's life was actually worth so much more than just schmooz under foot. It's because of the desserts in the desert that I found out Michelle's unique ability to arm wrestle diamondbacks turning their skin into bandanas---and her ability to raise turtles setting them free in lakes around Arizona....and finally her unique spider skills. Hugs,
