Does anybody know if there is a payment plan for our property taxes? I hope we are not the only ones that don't have $2,000 laying around for our taxes, which have gone up substantially. I don't have enough fight left in me to ask why they are so high, I just want to pay them, and need some sort of a payment plan. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Read your 2007 Real Property Tax Notice.
In the General Information box it says to call 888-431-1311 for questions regarding "Tax Payments or Delinquent taxes". Next year plan ahead.

Sorry we're not Section 8 and have the government pay our bills!! I didn't realize we had Bill Gates living in our community!!! azreplant you may be perfect and have an outstanding portfolio, but things do come up financilly during the year and can leave hard working folks without two grand in the bank, so your plan ahead comment holds NO WATER!!

Slam66, if you do not believe in planning ahead, then how in the world are you able to pay the AZ and Federal Income Taxes each year? Are you a perennial penalty payer?

Taxes are based on the value of your home. And it's been no secret about taxes on new homes going from the first year value of land only to land/home value in about 18 months. If you are living in a $200,000 home, expect to pay about $2200 in taxes.

Be glad - other areas of the country are "Bill Gates" neighborhoods. My aunt in New York pays $15,000 per year. No she doesn't live in Manhattan. She's in Floral Park - Queens. And we're not talking mansion but a 70 year old two-story with basement and typical lot size for the area. Friends in Boston, San Diego and San Francisco pay similar amounts. In comparison - $2K is a bargain.

Is your taxes not part of your mortgage impound? If not - contact the county for arrangements. You can make the payments in two parts not - but I'm not sure about other terms.

Nothing is paid late! Not that you care or it is any of your business but we have had some very expensive emergencies this year and have had to drain savings. I have our AZ and federal taxes at a perfect balance, so we don't have to pay or receive any money in April. I was not looking for an argument, just any info or past experiences of other citizens of our community in this matter. I do appreciate the phone # you supplied. This forum is here for informational purposes, is it not? The personal attacks that people dish out on this forum is very disconcerting. You don't know me, why would you go directly to someone not planning ahead, it could never be another reason, right?

Slam66, I got the tax notice myself, but it can be misleading because it doesn't show if your property taxes will actually be paid through your mortgage. I know that my mortage has an escrow account, so part of what I pay each month on it is set aside to take care of property taxes. You should have an item-by-item breakdown of your mortgage from when you closed on your house, that will show you what amount, if any, is going towards property taxes. The first thing I'd do is check that carefully; you may have nothing to worry about--especially if you bought a resale house.

Slam66 and AZReplant should duke it out over on the Ramsey's patio.

They are who we thought they were!

Slam66,

Your mortgage company most likely has a web site. You can set up your personal loan account access, allowing you to monitor your escrow balance, loan balance, etc. any time you are at your computer.

Also it will have customer service email addresses and phone numbers should you have any questions.

Good Luck! I hope your luck is better than mine. I checked mine yeaterday and discovered I needed to send an additional $850.00 to my escrow account so the mortgage company can pay the first half of my taxes.
