Keep in mind that you WILL need a business license to legally sell anything at a craft fair.

I think its sad that this event is competing with the Mutt March and that the Mutt March had to move it's location this year because of it. I know not everyone is dog owners, but the Mutt March had all of it's stuff printed up and this event's coordinators wouldn't move to a weekend before or after to allow the Mutt March to have the same location this year..

Dear JillyBean, there appears to be some confusion on your part - it's my understanding the Maricopa Meadows Community events and its HOA dues paying members (which I am) take precedence and rank over outside events and that includes this Mutt march. Also, this event was scheduled back in May. In the future, it might prove to be more cost effective to verify that you can hold your event BEFORE printing. LOL.

Jillybean,
Just Curious?
Wouldn't have gone to the Craft event or Mutt March? If you mean the Craft event, from your threads, sounds like you have hostility towards them, what's that about? Are you a Maricopa Meadows resident, I hope not.

I AM a MM resident. Considering there are ZERO events in that park, ever.. I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that you will get the dates you want when you apply for them 2 months in advance. At the time the Mutt March asked the craft fair people if they would be so kind as to change to a weekend before or after, the craft fair hadn't been publicized yet. What's the harm in waiting a week to be neighborly?

Not to mention that the craft fair people neglected to tell residents that they will need a busniess license to sell anything. That's irresponsible.

This left a very bad taste in my mouth.. Why would you want to compete with such a large event in a small town?

Jill is right on the license issue--I think somebody needs to address that business license issue before you have a bunch of disappointed crafters and customers.

These last few posts have made up my mind as to whether or not to participate in this. 15+ days to reply to someone's request for information, getting snippy with someone that posts negative comments (true ones), not letting people know what they need to do to participate in the event and not willing to work with someone that has used the park the same weekends in the past for a community wide, well attended event. I'm sure they won't miss my presence and I'm sure I'll have much more fun at the Mutt March.

I haven't received anything as of yesterday and because of the delay in response, I am now busy that day. Maybe next time...

Wow, I had no idea that this string was out here! Therefore, I must apologize to those of you who have asked questions and have received no response. You are absolutely correct that this is unacceptable. I must say in my defense that when I tried to post the original message (adverstisement) I was advised by 85239 that they would NOT post this type of post; I could post as an EVENT but not solicit any vendors, etc. or we could pay to place this ad. Since I do not typically read FORUMS posted on 85239, I never thought to check back to see if they had posted since I had not changed the verbiage. So, my apologies!! Someone did advise us that our crafters, etc would require a Maricopa Business License (we honestly thought that since Maricopa Meadows is private property and we are non profit that this would be similar to a church bazaar, etc.). We had to go and research this with the city and change the flyer that we had planned on delivering to our homeowners. We did, indeed, find out that a Maricopa BUSINESS license will need to be obtained in order to participate if any $$ are to be exchanged. At this late date in the year, that business license is $25. Even with this requirement we have had some genuine interest (although mostly vendors vs crafters)in this event.

Now, regarding the Mutt March. In our Q2 community newsletter we published Nov 10 as the date for our CRAFT / Food Drive event; when we went to the HOA in May and again in August, they had no conflict with us using the park on Nov 10. I am not sure who reserved this park for the Mutt march, so I can't speak to where this was publicized or reserved. After someone mentioned the Mutt March to us; we re-checked with PDS (our HOA) and they advised we had this date. There was no intent to push another event out of the park on this date or any other date for that matter. We even considered inviting the Mutt March to participate on the same date but had some concerns about animals and crafts in the same area. Out of respect for the crafters, we thought better of this idea.

I hope that this clarifies some of the items mentioned on this forum. The flyer distributed thru our community shares my mobile number if you wish to address any of the requirements for the Craft Bazaar / Food Drive with me.

Thanks for reading!!
