After weeks of construction last year and this year to....I assume to prevent the washes from having to close due to rain fall. Seems like this is another failed attempt to improve the quality of life in Maricopa. It seems we are setting a trend of doing things half way or not anticipating correctly. The over crowding of brand new schools also comes to mind.

I know I am not aware of ALL the facts that determine what is to be built and how big etc etc.

I think we can do a better job.

The facts are...

Are the Schools over crowded?

Is the wash still flooding?

What's the answer to those questions...

If yes.....Then the city is failing.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

It's funny how they closed the road last night after I just drove thru it. There was no flooding when I came home. I drove thru it anyway so did another SUV.

I'm free from all prejudice, I hate everyone equally!

Came through last night @ 9pm....then closed this morning. I hope the city didn't spend a lot of money on this " improvement "

Is it like this all year, or just monsoon season?

Only when it rains heavily - primarily spring and late summer - early fall.

A buddy and I got pulled over after driving through the wash (no water mind you). The signs were pushed off to the sides where people had moved them to get by. The cop didnt give us a ticket, but he said that he had already given 7 and that if he caught us again, he would "get out his ticket book". Lame wash...

The contruction wasn't to keep the roads from closing when the wash floods. It was to keep water from pooling on the sidewalks for weeks on end after the wash is mostly dried out. It was also to allow for Global Water's extra run off from running over the sidewalks.

road closed means road closed, not move the sign aside and drive through. its pretty simple actually.

I hate when they close it for 1 or 2 inches of water..

As for the project, WHAT A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

I thought they were going to build some type of bridge.. Like maybe 2 feet off the ground and have holes in it to allow water to flow, but when I saw what they did.. I said, you've got to be kidding me!

Even if Maricopa City took the time to dig out a trench from the Smith Enke to end end of RED, maybe 4 feet wide, and a foot deep.. and made a channel .. it would work!

How big were the tubes? It seems that they should have put in bigger tubes, so now I'm thinking that they ripped us off, taxes and all.
