 Alert | Strangest thing. Was wondering if anyone new of any trick or ideas to eliminate brownish stains on pebble sheen surface. Pool is around 2 months old. Did everything they asked me to do at start up including brushing 2 times a day for the first 2 weeks. Water balance is good. Verified with strips and pool supply co. Any help would be great. Stains are in different places around the pool.

Alert | | When I use to do pools the most likely reason for browns spots out of nowhere is lawn fertilizers (are they bb size spots?) or rust (if something got into your pool and the sweep kicked it around then sucked it up). If you have a lawn service ask them if they fertilized. Could be kicked around on there mowers from someone elses yard too. Are the spots growing? If you also have some bright green on the walls where theres some shade you could have mustard. There's stuff you can buy to remove the stains but if it's not mustard you can just wait a few months and they'll go away. | | | |

I was told that they are dirt and sand that have bonded with minerals onto the concrete and the only way to get rid of them is to drain the pool and have someone acid wash it (although I haven't done that yet.) I was also told that it will happen over and over because of the hard water out here and it can happen with even the most meticulous pool care. | | | |

It was actually the pool company that told me what it was. The hard water is brutal! Be careful after a dust storm and the sand settles. If it sits there too long is bonds with the minerals and becomes one with your pool. After a dust storm let it settle to the bottom and then quickly go out and brush down the sides and floor, keep your pump on until the water has been turned over. I talked to someone that said they drain, acid wash and refill their pool every year but personally I don't think it makes a huge difference, the new water is just as hard and full of minerals. | | | |
