Does anyone know what is going on at the VW testing facility. I heard that they were moving. Before the fence was built you couldn't even tell that there was anything over there...it blended with the natural landscape...now we have this ugly fence to block our view.

They're not moving just yet and they need the fence to keep the nosey neighbors out. I think the houses started getting a little to close for comfort.

I agree....bad enough I'm gonna lose half of my mountain view to the new builds..but to see that thing...UGH!

mmm maybe they will at least cover it with some vines or something it will still be an eyesore though

I finally saw what you are talking about, mighty interesting! They must be testing something that's extra special to put that up.

I actually think the fence is interesting. It poked my curiosity last weekend. I don't find it an eye sore, something different though. I guess we should be happy though, as long as they are there, that means no homes yet.

I've been wondering just how high that fence goes. They have the full size Oleanders there already and I think this fence is twice as high.

i dont mind the more homes coming over there...because i believe it was going to be zoned mixed...with business as well...more homes and more business out that way to me means all the more reason to persue punching through a road to the 10 from our end of town

I worked there for a few months last summer Darin, and I can tell you there are some very interesting things going on there. They often allow other manufacturers to use the facilities too. A european company called Skoda and even sometimes Porsche. Once the houses started popping up, they got really nervous that people could see onto the property from their 2nd floor windows. Everything is kept pretty tight lipped there. They even have little tents that cars out on the tracks duck into if there is a low flying aircraft. Some car magazines will pay pretty well for a glimpse at the prototypes. They have a new home in Gila Bend, but probably won't be out of here for a couple of years. The posts with the material strung across was probably the cheapest quick-fix for them

I thought it was great that I seemed to be getting more patience with age...turns out I just don't give a darn.

Yeah CatMan,
I consider you lucky to have worked there! Although I wouldnt really want to be a "tester" and drive the cars around town all day. Those guys get peanuts for pay.
I'm Really familiar with the VW brands (ie..Skoda, Seat, Audi, Porsche (part owner), bentley, Lambo..etc)

I knew they were moving to Gila and about the Tents to hide from camaras. That would be the perfect job for me!!

ok...Linda and I along with val and her husband went for a walk last evening and went over by the proving grounds....
From the house it appears that fence is attached to the oleanders but once we got to the fence its seperate from oleanders! Its the very thick brush of oleanders, then the high wall we see about 50 feet from the oleander fence...

Being the VW fan boy that I am, I tried looking through the fence! but couldnt see anything, but did hear afew 6 and 8 cylinder VW/audi whipping around the track they have!!!

Hey Tempting! We intended to take the route that goes close to your house, but we wimped out and took a shortcut throught the school. It took about an hour and a half to walk to VW and back. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>))
