No matter how much you tell your kids not to they do. Today I was in MM's park and a little boy (9 b/c he told me)was there alone. He was friendly b/c he said hello to my husband first and proceed to help my 2yr. old down the slide. So I asked him are you alone and that's when he proceed to tell me "I'm 9 it's not like I'm 6 and I have 3 hrs. here b/c I have 3 bottles of water. And so sad he was telling the truth he had 3 bottles of water on the table next to his bookbag and bike.
Why?? why would he be out by himself. I told my husband I felt uneasy leaving him. It's not like these parks have gates or fences around them. Anyone can drive right up and wisk them away.

Oh my that is so scarry, what parent lets there kids stay in an area like that alone at his age. I feel so bad for these kids how have no supervison and the parent obviously did not tell him about strangers. Even with a fence it would be scary you cant even trust school teachers these days let alone anyone in a park. Wow thats so sad, What did you guys end up doing?

I would have called the cops-hubby said they would have brought him to the station to contact his parents -IF he was left there until they got home,-for his safety. In this day and age I would never let my child alone in a park for 3 hours alone! Heck I would not leave myself alone in a park for 3 hours!!!This is sad!

Speaking of...wasn't there a 14 year old girl that was molested on a city bus today? Imagine what could happen to that poor 9 year old in a park! Very scary!!!!

Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

I didn't know parents did that. My kids are still way too young to even consider something like that (5,4 and 7 mo.) but today's world is crazy. I started talking to my kids about stranger danger and what to do etc., but still!! They still talk to anyone that walks by. I'm so paranoid I dont want them talking to neighbors, or anyone that has to come into my house - pest control, ac man or anyone.

Do they still have a program in the schools like McGruff the Crime Dog? He rocked!!!

The funny thing is, if anything ever happens to that kid the parents will find someone to blame. If he gets hurt on the equipment, it will be the parks fault. Someone kidnaps him and it's the kidnappers fault. Some bully hurts him and it's the bullies fault. But it's never the parents fault for leaving the little kid alone with no one to protect him at the park for hours in the first place.

I have to agree with Bionicbunny. If something happened to this child the parents would be the first ones on TV boo hoo'ing that someone took our baby. Please lets us have back our child (boohoo). These are the same type of idiot parents that do not secure their children in car seats and cry that their child was killed. These are the same parents who leave their kids in the car, while they run into the store with the car running and some steals the car. I only feel the children, because they have parents who are (in my opinon) child abusers. Abuse is defined in may ways. I hope the parents are found and charged. Mud, only tastes like mud, when you eat some.
