With all of the negativity on this forum, I am just wondering if anyone can name 3 positive things which has helped the district improve. Are you up for the challenge? I will name mine later.

I work for the district. Love the kids and staff at Santa Cruz. I smile and welcome the parents that send their kiddos to us.

name 3 positive things which has helped the district improve

Hmm...as I am not employed by the district 3 things might be hard to do, afterall we are talking about the district and not one particiular school so that leaves out volunteer work at the school level and direct support of some teachers, I don't drive a bus or answer phones or stuff like that either but I will try....here goes...

#1. I diligently voted for school board candidates who I thought would supervise and direct this school district and hold it accountable. That was a positive action that has proven to be a negative result so it probably doesn't count.

#2. I support my firends who are district employees and encourage them to continue their carreers. These people BTW are not discouraged by TW but rather by district leaders who make it very difficult for them to do their jobs. These are good people who do good work for the district, I encourage them to hang in there as I believe we will have new district management in the near future.

#3. I keep my children in this district, they are excellent students and pose no disciplenary problems, are good examples and participate in activities that reflect well upon the district.

#4. I try very hard to hold this district accountable in a fair and objective way that I believe our school borad does not but should be doing. A district that is held accountable will be transparent and improve in a positive way because everyone will see it. Hiding, denials and distractions lilke the TW recall only foster mistrust and contempt.

#5. I will actively campaign for school board members who are willing to hold this district accountable and tranparent and are willing to make whatever changes are necessary to make that happen.

1. Alerted the district that they were not using car seats when they are legally obligated. The district was very nice about this.

2. Talk to the school concerning the problems I have had with my special needs child, and helping to work out an appropriate solution.

3. Donate to the Santa Rosa Pre-K rummage sales.

1. Encourage my friends and neighbors to support the district and our schools.

2. Send in extra "supplies" to the teachers when they ask for them. Tissues, pencils, and glue sticks are particularly helpful to the primary grade teacher.

3. Thank the teachers, staff, and principal for all they do for my 2 children there.

1. Taught 3rd grade for two years here
2. Single handedly started the ABITIBI "paper" recycling program that is now in place in several schools. (Yes folks, PAPER only...no card board and NO trash because the schools get docked from the money they get for the program if they have to sort that stuff out)
3. (future) I plan to enroll my little munchkin at P.B.
