Alert | Is possibly the scariest thing ever! I have driven across the CO Rockies and it wasnt that bad...I couldnt even see the lines in the road...people were pulled over right and left. I stopped for a little while, then decided to keep going verrrrrry slowly. What I don't understand is why on earth would people pull over to the side of the road and TURN OFF THEIR LIGHTS????? I mean, how dumb can you be in the middle of a storm? We were all driving with our lights and hazards on. I could barely see tail lights, let alone cars sitting there on the side of the road with no lights.
Hope everyone got home safe | | Formerly DRich

Alert | Turning off your lights is what you're supposed to do. If you don't someone behind you is liable to try to follow the lights and slam right into you. I mean, how dumb can you be not to turn them off? | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | the reason to pull off and turn off your lights is that tail lights may be the only thing drivers behind you can see, so if you have your lights on while you're pulled over, you run the risk of someone "following" you and rear ending you. i just got home from work, and am SO glad i work in maricopa and only have a 1 mile drive, it was really scary tonight. not to mention that i am still blowing dusty snot after almost an hour at home!!!

Alert | Ok, well after doing some research it looks as if you two are right! I guess it just doesnt make sense, I could easily see the cars pulled over with their lights on...but then I'd roll up on one with its lights off and was like, "crap!" there's a car right there!
Oh well...I'll know what to do next time I have to say, aside from it being scary...It was pretty cool! | | Formerly DRich
