Alert | My car is a 2007 Chevy Aveo LS, got it from Freeway Chevy off of I-10 back in July. She has about 7200 miles on her.
Got my oil changed on Monday after work, came home, didn't notice anything Tuesday morning. Went to work, again, didn't notice anything Tuesday afternoon.
Came out of work today, Wednesday and there was a fresh puddle of what appears to be oil under my car. Came home just now and sure enough, in my garage, is also a fresh puddle of oil, at least it looks like oil to me.
when the car cools down later on, I am going to check the dipstick, but is this something I should be concerned about? is it a case that maybe they overfilled the oil? I haven't smelled anything burning, which if oil was spilled, i would smell.
It seems weird that it's last night and today that this was happening, but monday night, nothing, and monday was when i got the oil changed. Got it done at Freeway.
Any thoughts or advice?
Thanks | | | |

Alert | That has happened to me before. I was told that it was overfilled & will stop "leaking" in a day or two. That's exactly what happened.

That's scary, Kimberly. You need to find another place to get your car serviced.

Sounds like a loose drain plug or improperly installed oil filter. Regardless, check the oil level before you drive it again. Call the people who serviced it and let them know THEY have a problem and ask what they're going to do about it.

Alert | If it is a loose drain plug or the filter wasn't installed right....how long can I drive the car before issues happen? I'm going to take the car into Freeway tomorrow morning, but i have to drop it off at 6am, since i have to be at work in north phoenix by 6:30am.
I am hoping it's just something minor. it was just weird how this didn't start till a day or so after it was changed.

Same thing happened to me on a Malibu I had from them. They fixed that, but there were numerous other problems that I was able to clearly demonstrate that they would not fix. Stay away from Freeway. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Have you checked the oil level today? It might be something totally unrelated to the recent oil change. If it were me and the oil level is now low on the dipstick, I'd probably have it towed to the dealer unless I could identify the problem and determine it wouldn't damage the car to drive it.
If the oil level is full, are you sure what you're seeing isn't automatic transmission fluid or power steering fluid. Sometimes they will overfill the power steering reservoir and it will overflow when it heats up, so check it out. If that's the problem, drive the car and ask the dealer adjust the fluid level and clean up the mess it made at your first opportunity.
Hope this helps. | | | |

Alert | Well, whatever it is, is still leaking. I checked it last night and then when we left for work this morning and it's still leaking. it's a light brown, odorless fluid. At first I thought it was gas, till I realized, didn't smell like gas and if it was gas, it wouldn't be a puddle, it would be evaporated. I did check the dipstick this morning before work and it was still close to the full mark. But it seems like Im loosing a lot of fluid, but not sure what.
I am taking it back to Freeway today after work. the positive note is my car is under warranty, so if it turns out to be something major, it's covered. Just not sure what it is, the car still drives normal. I hopefully will get this fixed this afternoon.

Alert | | I also had my oil changed there. I didn't have big spots but just a few like "dots" on the drive way. After a few days it stopped and my truck is still running just fine.

Alert | | Took my car in after work yesterday, it was a loose drain gasket. They fixed it and now it's not leaking, so i am happy. I just never had this happen to me before, so now I know, after I get my oil changed, make sure I check for leaks.

Glad the car is Good to GO! | | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!!
