I love this store. I went today for my 2nd time to their storytime, and it was great. My daughters sat down and played with Sherman (therapy greyhound) while listening to other children read to him. It was so sweet.

Jen, thanks for trying to find the beggining books to the Emma Harte family saga. Please PM me when you get them.

Very nice store. I took my daughter there for grand opening bought some books. I will have to take her to a storytime.

Sherman (the doggie in my avatar) is a therapy dog. We go to Secondhand Pages Bookstore right after Sat. story times, and kids can read to Sherman. It promotes reading, I am amazed at how excited the kids are to read to him.

He is a very sweet, and lazy boy, but he's a big 80 pounds. To reduce any fear or nervousness, I will sit with the kids and talk about Sherman, greyhounds in general, and how he's a retired racer. I'll show them his tatoos, and encourage them to pet his bald tummy or bald butt. (His normal story time listen position is sprawled out on his side, half asleep.) I sit with Sherman directly, and his is a very quiet, gentle soul. Kids usually warm right up to him.

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Storytime and the visit from Sherman went really well. The children seemed to have a very good time.

lazydoubleA--Store credit is 1/4 of what I can sell the book for. Example: If I price the book at $7.00 you get $1.75 in store credit.

This is great. I travel a lot and read 3-4 books per month. I hate throwing them out, but can't keep them all. Do you buy anything or just kids books?

It really depends on condition of the book and how many I have in stock already. Some people bring in 100 books and I don't take any because I have too many in that genre, poor condition or I already have that book in stock. Some bring in 100 and I take them all.

I am looking for women's fiction (Evanovich, Weiner, Picoult, etc), all kinds of non-fiction,self-help, true stories and teen fiction right now.

Thanks!

Oh my gosh, I didn't know you took in books...I have SO SO SO SO SO MANY books that are sitting in boxes. I should go through them based on what you listed above and bring some by. If you don't take them, no sweat at all!

I guess that explains the secondhand pages, huh? Duh....yeah...a little slow on the uptake lately! I'll blame it on the virus I have right now!

Jen,

Those book thongs were so very pretty. I wish that I could have bought them all. Tell your local artist that they are beautiful. Thanks and please let me know when you get Danielle Steel Bungalow 2 and that other book thong that I reserved.

I really like the setup of the store and my girls had a great time in the kids section. Did I miss when Sherman comes to the store, is it every Saturday and at what time?

Do we need to make an appt to bring in books for you to consider? Or are there specific times? I have several in the genre you mentioned.

Thanks for all the kind words. Here are the answers to your questions:

Pati...Your new book thong is in. I don't have a copy of Bungalow 2 yet, but I mentioned it to several Danielle Steele fans so maybe we'll see it soon.

Tim...I have a schedule of events on my website. www.secondhandpages.com. My dog therapy time follows each story time which is every other saturday. I sometimes have story time during the week as well.

Vytor-No textbooks. Sorry

Urban Cowgirl...No appointment necessary. Come down whenever you want.
