Alert | Just a thought... Does it not seem logical, if we are one of the SMALLER communities, souldn't our EXPENSES BE LESS???
Why should a smaller community pay the same NET fees as a LARGER community, as our USAGE is smaller???
Hummmm..... Just a thought.....

Alert | I live in the Villages. If any of you want to come by and use the gym/pool/tennis or basketball courts, let me know and I'll hook you up.
BTW - we pay less fees than you.

Alert | | You would actually think that you would pay more with less people. For a larger community to have the same basic resources there is a much larger pot they get the money from, economies of scale.

First of all you agreed in the TOU when signed up not to cross post. So quit running off yourslf.
As far as what we pay for services it's called economy of scale. Why does something cost less at Costco or walmart than a small store? Buying power.

Alert | Thank you very much, Caveman for the logical, adult explaination, instead of a "Mommy & Daddy" lecture! It now makes sense to me!

Alert | If you had asked like an adult I guess I would have as if I were communicating with one. Didn't mean to be mean but spam is really annoying.
Glad you have your answer and hope you attend the annual HOA meeting on Oct 29th.
Cabana ~ Good analogy! Wonder where I have heard that before? LOL!

Alert | Hey Java Lover and Monkey face, you started it with Alyblueyez.
Don't you have anything better to do with your life than cruise the bloggs to count how many times some one has put something in???
I don't think there was one thing wrong with the way Alyblueyez asked the question, except they made the error of posting it on a couple of blogs. Typical "newbie" mistake. But I guess you've never made an error, huh?
The question was framed in a manner to provoke thought in a thinking person, but being a Canine and a Simian, I guess you don't have human reasoning ability, just attack mode!

Yeah, you can use our tennis courts and pool as well if you'd like.
Don't sweat some of the morons on here. Just like in real life they think THEY KNOW IT ALL!!<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/sick.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Sick' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | Just wanted to let you compare apples to oranges.... At Cobblestone Farms our quarterly dues are approx $240.
But we have water features, LOTS of vegetation/landscaping to support, ramadas, and a pool. Part of our HOA fees are also for Orbitel Cable....the ONLY company willing to make an investment into Maricopa so that we could get cable. Because they spent millions to lay all the cabling, etc they were written into our contract that we have to pay so much per quarter for cable (even if we don't use their service) for x amount of years. I believe that contract with them is over sometimes in 2008 or 2009...I can't remember right now off the top of my head.
Fees for us will be going up a bit in part due to the excessive amount of vandalism that has occured in our community over the past year. We have had to pay to clean up graffiti, broken toys in the play area, vandalized pool--broken pool furniture, broken pool gate, electrical wiring pulled out of the splash pad, basketball hoops bent, etc. We have had to pay to come up with solutions too: video surveillance system and police patrol, among other things.
Fees are high but when you see everything we pay for---it actually makes sense.
I can't speak for your community. I would be interested in seeing precisely what you are paying for...aka, ask for a breakout of what your HOA feesdo for you. Generally the management company will send out a pie chart---you can always ask for a financial report (the same thing that your HOA Board should receive)....it will be a very detailed accounting record.
Hope this helps...

We have no pool, splash pad, or video surveillance but I see where you are coming from. The cable monolopy ripoff is whole other story..... <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | Any AC member can go online to our website and look at the financials. They have current and past ones posted there.
After reading Kimberly's post I am grateful for not choosing an association with those 'amenities' but then again that is why we choose AC, lots of grass and no water features. Good luck.
