Has anyone else noticed that the southbound passing lane is really rough from the start of the new road south of Riggs? It seems to go on for miles. I hope this is not the final state of our brand new road. Anyone know what the deal is? Is there a final layer that's gonna fix that?

Just another indication that they didn't do such a great job. I've noticed in my car that If I drive on just the right spot, I can hear the old rumble strips faintly.

That's what I feel, but I don't think it's the rumble strips, but just a bad smoothing job.

Supposedly, from some little newspaper thing I got in the mail yesterday, they are still going to do one more layer, after they finish the Riggs to I-10 section...

Now I see it. Their bid was to rubberize this section. If, if the other section goes up for bid and if the win it, then we can finally, maybe expect rubberizing in what, a year?

eppyjerk and jason- Be patient. All good things come to those who wait!

When the construction signs and the arrow boards are gone, I believe we will have a very good road both north and southbound. Yea, layers still have to be applied, I suppose, so be patient, drive safely, and soon it will be all good!

In the mean time, we will have to deal with the backups, the poor lane control changes, and the occasional uneven pavement. Always look at you glass half full, not half empty!

Happy days,
