There was an article claiming the paving project for the 347 would be complete by the 29th, did they mean next month or even October? Perhaps I read it wrong. All I would like to see is what the TRUTH is. Same applies to the traffic light at 347 and the High School. It sure is a pretty decoration.

The original article said 1 month for paving. The entire project also encompasses a light at Casa Blanca. But as usual, no road work gets completed on time...

All paving work has been scheduled so that rush hour traffic will not be affected. This part of the resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed August 24.

Why is it taking three months for the 347 when ADOT repaves the 101 with rubberized asphault in one weekend? Shut it down, get it done, and let's move on! Last week I was in Minneapolis for work, getting back to what it looked like as no progress.

The difference between the 101 and the 347 is that the 101 didn't have tons of potholes requiring milling. ADOT was able to seal the cracks and then rubberize. Here they've got to mill, pave and then rubberize. I agree, it shouldn't take two months, but there is a big difference between the projects.

Actually they Mill then Pave. The Rubberized Asphalt is what they are paving its one step not two. The Rubberized Asphalt is a different mix then a non-rubberized mix so it also is one step.

I too was wondering what is going on. They said the Paving portion of the project would be completed today and yes a lot of paving jobs run over schedule but this is no where near being done.

I have to question why Pettera Asphalt's machinery was mobed from the job site this morning as the project is no where near completed and that is the Subcontractor laying the asphalt.

Working for a Paving company I asked what was going on with the shoulder work (being so much higher) but no one around here seemed to understand why they would do that unless there were multiple lifts. Although Rubberized Asphalt only requires one lift and more would seem odd and unnecessary.

I've also wondered about the paving of the shoulder, what it necessary? We need the lanes first, then the shoulder. After seeing the shoulder (both directions) paved, I thought they were going to make this a 3 lanes highway?

Anyone wants to chime in on this? I'm also wondering if this project could've been done when the weather gets cooler, rather than in the peak of the monsoon season and IT'S HOT! Now the project is only going to be done during night time?????

Huh, I thought rubberized asphalt was a topping layer only, didn't know they could mix it in.

I think they might have done the paving and rubberizing separately anyway. If you drive south from Phoenix on 347 now, for a few miles the right lane is the same height as the shoulder. This section is noticeably quieter than the section that isn't the same height.

to me i still say after looking at the new paved over shoulder that they can sneak in a third lane and still have room for a shoulder on one side...the right side

Some paving can be done when the weather gets cooler but it has to be still warm out. Rainy and cold days the mix will not set right and have to be pulled out and re-laid.

A Third lane would be great! I don't understand why ADOT would bid that separately as I think I heard it will be bid in future years. They have to negotiate land first.

Looks like they got some paving done last night. Smoothed out the shoulder on the sound bound side! They were making some progress last night so lets home they can keep that up so we can stop driving on the loudest road ever!

They don't have to renegotiate the land, because they are getting no more land. The Native American community has already stated that years ago. That is it, it is all we get, period, no more, nada. That doesn't mean that they cannot put another lane in there and then put a concrete median in. That part is ADOT's fault and probably because of lack of money.

You think people complain now with the minor roadwork that is being done? Just wait until (if) they decide to expand 347. That will involve major closures because of bridge expansion that will have to be done.

Wow Burn on Jason.......

(lol... yanks Jason's chain cause I never contribute the good stuff like him)

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.
