Finally... a new muscle car that looks like a classic. Is anyone else as excited about this car as I am?

That car would have been COOL 3 years ago, before the crazy gas price increase.

I saw an Challenger SRT8 at Tempe Dodge. The sticker was about $45k. I wish that I could have both a Challenger and a Charger.

I don't think thats true, at all.  When I was deciding between my Corvette and the Cayman, gas mileage was a factor.

Rich.........so did you pick the 1/18 model or the 1/24 model?

The Challenger and the new Camaro are investments, for the long haul. Most will be sold for "cash". As the old saying goes....."if you have to worry about the cost of gas, don't buy the boat".

Musclecars are an exclusive fraternity today........

HAHAHA

The Challenger and the Camaro are mass-produced cars.  They will be a collector's car in about 50 years.  VERY few cars from Detroit ever turn collectible.

You are thinking of the Ford GT or the ZR1.  The Challenger and Camaro aren't even in the same league.

Nice C5

If all goes well I would like the 09 with the manual... we'll see when I get to that point. If our do nothing congress would allow us to drill gas prices would go low again. Look what just happened. Bush says drill drill drill, and the prices drop. Back during the carter years when they had shortages and overblown prices they got them back down by increasing production by 250% it is basic supply and demand... I want this car...

Looks like a great updating of the classic Challenger from the days of the Dukes of Hazzard.

A friend of mine bought one of the original Dodge Chargers that they used in the Dukes of Hazzard. They had a stable of a bunch of identical cars because they were always in various need of repairs. The one that he bought, was pretty rough, but it was an original TV car, and it was FUN.......

Another friend bought one of the Corvette's featured on the TV show "Route 66". He got a preety good deal on it as it was "rough" to say the least. But, it was fun while he had it!!

I had one of the original Superbirds, and it was a blast, with a "Hemi" and four speed. They are currently bringing over six figures on the classic car market.

Original Challengers are also going for as much as six figures........

Too little too late. This would have been a better deal when gas was lower. People buy challengers and cameros for cheap speed. That worked well when gas was cheap but now that gas is no longer cheap these "bargain hunters" will be left with a bargain no longer. Expect sales to flop.

My god base price is 37k??? Are you kidding me? If you want to pay a lot for a car with a cheap interior and a beefy engine go buy a Subaru WRX.

caveman........I contacted GM and Chrysler Corporation, and they both assured me that they were aware that you would not be one of their "target" customers. They also said that they took that fact into consideration on all of their prognostications of potential sales.

Just wanted you to know, that what you think is important to them...
