Alert | | At 347 southbound and Smith-Enke, there is only one turn lane to turn left onto S-E. Why? There is clearly enough room with that gigantic striped area. There is clearly enough demand from the fact that traffic routinely backs up north of the Cobblestone traffic light. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | | I am with you. This town needs to fix its road system to help accommodate the growth that has taken place. If they can pave a temporary parking lot for half a million why can't we get a few extra turn lanes in the city, especially this one where the road is already paved.

Alert | Caveman...
They aren't going to fix anything if you keep calling it a TOWN....
It's a City now.. and they need to run it as such. | | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! Alert | | Yeah, I don't understand it. It's just a simple restriping. While they're at it they could retime the light so that 347 also gets a trailing green arrow. In other words, it would go from red to green arrow, to green light to green arrow and then back to red. Would tremendously improve traffic. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | I've been wondering the same thing since I moved here. The only thing that makes me worry about them opening the second lane is that they will probably get rid of the left turn on a solid green and replace it with a red arrow if there is more than one lane turning. I don't really understand why the traffic engineers do this, but I've seen it many times in the past. The other thing that I don't get is why the stoplights are so screwed up. Smith Enke gets way too long of a green light crossing 347. There are usually only a few cars waiting to go straight across and they get about a 20 second green while the traffic on 347 backs up for blocks. This is just one example of many noted. It really is quite easy to time stoplights in a city so maximize traffic flow through the high volume areas. Cities have been doing it for as long as I can remember, even before the stoplights were all computerized.

Alert | | See, I never understood that rule either. Las Vegas has double turn lanes with green lights, you just see two lines of cars queued up. Worked well I thought. | | Joined: Jul 2005
