Last time you guys helped me out by asking for a a/c balance to improve the a/c flow in my home.

i have some more questions that my Home warrenty has not gotten back to me to answer yet.

- will insulating my garage with syrofoam improve my heating and cooling costs.

- Why is there no vent in the garage?  in other homes i have lived in they have a vent on the side.

- I'm thinking of getting an indoor freezer and want to know the best place for it.  i have the dr horton carefee model and want to put it in the dining room but what of the carpet.  do i get a drip pan?  what have you done?

- also my gate is swollen from the heat and is really hard to unlatch.  is there something i can do so i am not adjusting the gate 2-3 times a year?  (and yes i am that lazy that i dont want to spend 5 min adjusting a gate)

- and finaly, what the heck are them blue tubes sticking out of the ground between the homes?  can i cut or cover them?  they look aweful in my yard.

Money isn't everything.
Everyone just thinks it is...

I was told the blue tubes are for Maricopa broadband. I dont understand that one if senita has a contract with orbitel why are we wired for maricopa broadband? I have been trying to attend a HOA meeting to ask this question. I plan on making the next one for sure

Hello wifi, I'm going to try and answer some of your questions:

Insulating your garage can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you don't park your cars in the garage, it can be a good thing because an insulated garage will keep some of the heat out and might slightly reduce your heating and cooling costs because less heat will permeate your interior walls and garage door leading into your home. If you park your car in your garage, the insulation will keep the heat from your car in your garage just as good as it will keep the heat out. So if you bring a hot car into your garage, the insulation won't help you out.

I don't think vents are necessary because the point of a vent is to allow air to circulate. Vents also allow a lot of dust into your garage. Your garage doors aren't totally sealed, so air can get in and out, but less dust will get in. Can you imagine how much dust would be in your garage after one of our dust storms if you had a vent? Be happy you don't have one.

Indoor freezers shouldn't leak so you shouldn't have to worry about a drip pan. Is your laundry room upstairs or downstairs? I put an extra fridge/freezer in my downstairs laundry room and it has worked out great. You need to make sure that you have enough power from the outlet you plug your freezer into. The last thing you want to happen is to trip the circuit constantly because you are putting too much power into a plug not designed for that much electricity. I'm not familiar with your floor plan so I don't know of a good place to put it.

Not much you can do with a swollen gate except adjust it. The same thing might happen with your interior doors. The builder will come out and shave your doors if they aren't shutting properly.

The blue tubes are Maricopa Broadband and I would suggest contacting them to put a box over them. Definitely don't cut them because they are not your property and you can get in trouble for that. Orbitel does have the contract to service Senita for a number of years, but when the agreement is up, the residents of Senita can use Maricopa Broadband and that's why they were allowed to put in conduit. One day you will have a choice.

I hope this info helps.

So if the community is prewired for Maricopa Broadband is it possible to at least get Internet service from them? or does the Orbitel agreement cover cable Internet as well? If it only covers cable (as in Television), I don't see why Maricopa Broadband wouldn't be able to offer Internet service to Senita residents.

ken, that's a good point and I don't have an answer on that one. I know we can get Qwest DSL in Senita, so I know Orbitel doesn't have sole rights to internet in the community. I would suggest calling Maricopa Broadband and maybe they can give a good answer.  I have heard that several Senita residents have called Maricopa Broadband but they said they didn't offer service in Senita?  That's hearsay and I've never personally called them.
