06/18/2008 6:14 AM Alert

At 7am on June 17, we found a Western Diamondback rattlesnake in our driveway, and then it went into our garage.  We called the fire department, and they came right away to take care of it.

I heard it before I saw it.  It was only about 3 feet long - a pretty young one - and very aggressive.  Keep an eye and ear out - especially with pets and children.  This species of snake may attack unprovoked, and they can be very territorial and stubborn.

Thanks for the warning. There was another rattler found on a porch in Desert Cedars about a month ago. The fire department also came right away and took care of it. With all the homes and development, we sometimes forget that we live in the desert.

What sub division do you live in? I have a retention lot next to my house and we had a 4 foot rattle snake in there where the kids play ball a lot. i didnt kill it because as much harm as they can cause they also eat rodents and bugs. I picked it up and carried it back to the farmers land and let it go. The farmer behing the Meadows is growing his feed corn and expect a lot more snakes when the crop is full grown and he cuts it down for harvest.

We are by the city park. I haven't seen any snakes here but they are all over.

I can only manage a primitive sound, "ugh." But ... thanks, though.
