Alert | I must say I had so many cans that it filled up the back uf my truck, so I heard "take em to the Stagestop" Really people has any one done that. They have a scale thats older then the Earth, and not to mention the lady had no idea what was going on.. We filled their chicken wire "can" up half way, not to mention the 3 other bags she had already weighed and we got $9.00 back. The darn scale wouldn't even move when the can was on their.. Does anyone know where I can go instead of going to the Stagestop

Alert | http://www.azrecycling.com/ We go here. It's a drive but for $0.85 a pound it's worth it. Just go when you have something else to do. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | Well, Seri, I go to Stage Stop for my recycle needs because it is handy and I am playing my part to keep America clean. I really do not care about the $$$$ I get back. If I can pull into the stage stop on my way to or from work and unload my aluminum I am happy. I do not recycle for the $$. I recycle to keep my land and desert clean. And twostep23, thanks for the map of another recycle place, but the map and website you provided was rather bad. Maybe I just didn't know how to access the map you posted, but it was very small and the locations I could not make out. The Stage Stop is making money off of our aluminum dropoffs, but thats ok! So are we! So the scales are old. If you really feel that you are being ripped off, then call tha Arizona State Department of Weights and Measures. May all your problems be little ones! MY aluminum recycle $$ will not by me a tank of gas, but it might buy me lunch at Arby's! | | "Your future is a rainbow of beautiful memories when you hold a dream in your heart"

Do you remember back when that lady was asking everyone to save cans for her daughter Reiley and the doctors bill, well im the type of person that wouldnt give just $9 to someone.. I like to help but at the same time in todays ways I'll take anything I can get and I was just staing that I was wowed at the price off cans thats all

Alert | Seri- What a stupid remark. And I quote: "Well Granny, you may not be one of the many affected by todays market, but i am,......etc.....END QUOTE" Seri, I am very much affected by todays market. ALL OF AMERICA IS EFFECTED BY TODAYS MARKET! I work full time, and travel 100 miles each day round trip. My husband and I carpool Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I am off Thursday and Friday, and he is off Sat and Sunday. So our Little Honda Civic travels 700 miles a week. Prior to this crunch it was costing me $75 every 3 days to go to work. without carpooling and filling up my Toyota Tundra And that was when gas was $2.15 a gallon. I feel the pinch just like everyone, but the least of my worry's is what price am I gonna get for my cans, and how far do I have to go to get that megga dollar! Yea, I remember the Reiley campaign. And I am very pleased with the outpouring response that she and her family received. | | "Your future is a rainbow of beautiful memories when you hold a dream in your heart"

Alert | | This could be a great example of why not as many people come onto this site and post, everything turns into personal attacks. No one can have adult discussions on here, thanks Seri for letting us know your experience at Stage stop, hopefully you find a place that will give you a little more pocket $, I'm going to try the place above that was recommended. | | "Nobody cares if you're miserable, so you might as well be happy"

Alert | | I like to give my cans to the little old lady that you see around town with the wagon, searching through the garbage for cans, and other recyclables. She looks like she needs this money more than I do. The other day I saw a woman person go into cirkle K and buy this lady a bottle of water to refresh her a little. It made me grin that I'm not the only one taking care of this lady...

And I am very pleased with the outpouring response that she and her family received. Honestly not everyone thinks about the Earth first when they recycle. I know I don't. I recycle because I was brought up to do so, so it is a habit. Now that we have bins, I figure I might as well. It helps me not have to take out the regular trash as often. When it does not cause me to have to do extra work, I recycle. I don't think I would otherwise. However, it does not matter why someone recycles, as long as they do it. If I go to the trouble to collect cans in a bag and then take them somewhere to be weighed (as my parents always did in CA, as well), then yes, I want to get paid as much as possible for it. For all you know I could be taking that money to buy seeds to plant trees to improve our ecosystem (I do not, but hey, I could...). Just because YOU do not care about some extra money in your pocket to buy groceries or make an extra credit card payment does not mean it is bad for someone else to want that money. I don't think there is any reason to lecture someone about it; just don't take the money if you don't want it.

Maybe I just didn't know how to access the map you posted, but it was very small and the locations I could not make out. If you click on the map it makes it bigger. I for one started saving because I realized many years ago if I didn't it was like throwing money away. I save them and take them down every couple of months. Last time I took them down we received $65. In my mind it's well worth the trip. We make a day of it and combine other tasks with our trip. Unless you've got more money than you know what you do with then it's hard not to care how much money a person gets. I for one would rather get the most then to settle for whatever I can get. Alert | Up North we have to pay a deposit on our beverage cans. .05 for pop cans and .10 for beer cans .10 for wine & liguor bottles.
That makes it $1.20 deposit on a dozen beers or $.60 for a dozen soda pop. I collect all my cans and take them in about once every 3 months. Then I take the wife out for dinner.
Deposits are a pain in the butt, but they help recile and little old people who scoure the ditches for the cans/bottles. | | =-If You Always do what You've always done -= =-You'll always be what You've always been-=
