It is a very difficult thing, to be raised a one faith, then change your beliefs to another faith when you are an adult.  You can be filled with "what ifs..." what if I'm wrong, what if I'm not doing this right, what if....  Then the pressure from family to come back to the way you were raised.  And if church was a time your whole family was together, you are leaving that happy family bonding time also.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Did you follow your heart or cave to the pressure?

Always follow your heart.......and if the religion doesn't want you hanging out with your family unless they are of the same religion tell them to go to hell...........

I'm sorry you're experiencing this Bionic. I was never put under that kind of pressure, nor would I allow someone to do that to me. But I'm totally aware of how overwhelming one's family can be, so it's perfectly understandable.

It's your salvation and so you must fellowship where you think the truth dwells. Being authentic in and to one's life will bring the greatest measure of satisfaction. No one can dictate that, so be where you feel closest to God...

Follow your heart.  You will never be happy, if you cave in to their beliefs.  You can still do church stuff with them and not believe in the crazy faith.

Yes this was really hard part of my coversion. I was raised around specifically anti-Catholic family and faith. I have quite a few ministers in the family as well, so the family reunions do get interesting. I also broke my grandmothers heart when she found out, but that was fortold.

In the end tell them to deal with it, or go pound sand.

Usually it is the other way around.  The family doesn’t want you hanging out with your new found faith and tells you to abandon it or go to hell.

Luke 12: 51-53
51  Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?  I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52  For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53  The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Cults are fun.  Today the orgy, tomorrow the kool-aid.
