Hello all!!

I was talking with a few of my neighbors yesterday, and we thought a block party for the 4th would be a good idea. We are in Sage and was curious if anyone else would be interested in this. I would have to figure all the city regulations, but wanted to get some feed back... They have fireworks at Pacana Park, and we have a great view, without the hassle of driving.

Thanks!

I think that is a great idea. We can all get to know our new and old neighbors. Either a block party or a big pool party. Let us know what you find out.

I'd be up for a block party... or swim party.  Whatever!  I think the view of the fireworks would be great from any of our parks or the pool.

Well, I'll ask around the next few weeks to see what other neighbors think as I am taking my nightly walks... but the pool / park idea sounds even better, since there doesn't have to really be any city approvals. We pay our HOA, we should get some good use out of it. I'll keep you updated on what others think, but I'd like to do that. BBQ - we'd need a man (any husbands volunteer), and it could be like a pot luck... I could provide the meat!
Any other ideas, shoot them my way!

I love the idea! A neighbor of mine was talking about wanting to have one as well ... but surely she wasn't thinking the 4th because that's when she's due! LOL BUT, our street over here in Juniper backs up to the open lots so we have a clear view over here of the park (you can see the lights from our street). How clear is the view from the sage area?

I think the pool thing sounds like a good idea HOWEVER .... there is the potential to have a LOT of people in there with a lot of kids running around and it might be harder to watch everyone around the water. Yes, we should expect parents to be parents, but let's get real. Plus, then it would also rule out anyone bringing alcohol for themselves (and who doesn't drink beer or frozen drinks at a BBQ? lol) ....

Just things to consider!

My husband and I live in Sage, too. We would LOVE to do some kind of community event! We can't really commit 100% though because we're expecting a baby and he/she would only be a month old...and it's our first, so we have no idea what to expect We could be dead on our feet by then We don't know anyone in the neighborhood except our immediate neighbor and Maricopa is kind of starting to wear on us (my husband has had some really bad experiences with people).

Alyssald- I sent you a message. You're not the only one out here expecting! Well, I'm not expecting, but so many girls are! And I swear it's like half of them are due in either June or July. Maybe it just seems that way! We'll have to get you introduced to some people out here. Knowing just ONE neighbor simply isn't enough! lol

I know that we have to have some expecting parents in our neighborhood because it seems like there are empty crib boxes in the dumpster next to us every week

We're very thankful for our neighbors, but they're older than us (they're kids are teenagers) so it would be nice to meet some people around our age (27 and 31).

We all need to get together. I am expecting my second child in June. I wish it were now though. I am so ready to just have him and can't wait 6 more weeks. My husband and I are 33 and 27, respectively. We could all hang out. Heck, Tiffany and I could BBQ for you LOL!! Or at least try to. That was a fun night.

We're the BEST bbq-ers (lol) ever!!! Okay ... well ... kinda. Oooohhh and I can't wait for him to get here either!!!! YAY! I can play with and love on a little baby without having to have one again. Vic is VERY happy about that. HA! 3's his limit.

We should definitely all get together though. 4th of July or sooner even ... if anyone is up for it.

So I'm thinkin' I shouldn't eat any BBQ if you offer Congrats on the second baby BMW...I would die if I had to go much longer....my poor husband is going to catch pneumonia from me keeping the house so cold! I'm due next week...and we have a busy month of June, but we are really, really hoping that we can get together with people for the 4th of July.

Our bbq is good. I just didn't realize that hot dogs can burn as fast as they did. If we do have another bbq, my husband will be here to work the grill. I tried once and not my type of thing.

Its so funny you keep the house so cold. I do the same thing and my husband will always ask if I feel good cuz he wants to turn it down. Not only do I have the AC going but the ceiling fans on high. Talk about the north pole. I think one day it is going to snow in here.

I am so looking forward to having our baby. I can't believe I have 6 more weeks. Well now it is 5 1/2 but still. He is an active little booger and I don't think he ever sleeps. I know I don't. Hopefully we can see all the new little babies and neighbors on the 4th also.

Actually Alyssa, my burgers were GREAT! Like she said though .... we had NO IDEA hot dogs could burn so fast. Then again it was the first time I'd ever used a grill really. We didn't do all that bad for our first time!

And the cold house ... better cold than hot! I might have to cover up with a blanket at your house, but at least I won't be sweating up a storm! Ick! lol

I'm SO looking forward to seeing all the babies! I love babies so much and the kids adore them as well. They're gonna be in HEAVEN! You'll know it's us at the 4th because I'll be with the 2 year old yelling out "Baby! Mommy, baby!" and the 3 year old sighing "Awww baaaabyyyyy!" with this cute little face. As long as they don't ask Mommy and Daddy for one, we're cool! LOL

I think a block party is a fantastic idea...... let me know if you need any help getting the word out - I can create some great fliers, help with getting donations of food and drinks etc..... I too will have a newborn and my 21 month old there to enjoy the festivities!

GREAT IDEA!

I think we should have a community one! My husband actually has the 4th off this year and it would be so great to get to actually enjoy it and meet the neighbors .... But I think it should be Alicia Ct. LOL We do have that great opening at the end of the street that faces Pacana. Isn't that where the fireworks will be? (Granted I live on the street so I am slightly biased, but still.)

Either street - I think it would be fun - My husband will be back from Border Patrol Academy for the weekend, so I too agree that we need to spend it having fun - I have already talked to the neighbors right around me - and they all think it would be a lot of fun.... Pot Luck, BYOMeat, BYOBeer - that way no one incurs a lot of cost..... we would just need a grill or two and some tables... I have like 10 plastic chairs that I could bring -

I think a whole block party would be fun. In other words, Juniper is a complete cirlce and we could block it all off and have everyone from Sage and Watercrest over to our side of the community. I think we are the only part of the neighborhood that has that. I think the BYOM and BYOB is a great idea also.
My dads side of the family in Texas would hold a minature parade with all the kids. They would decorate bikes, wagons, etc and parade down the street. I think that would be fun too.
