Concerned homeowners at our June Board meeting mentioned a few situations which I am bringing to your attention. a) Prowler Alert - several posts and discussions have addressed the issue of a prowler in various areas of the neighborhood. People report hearing noises (granite crunching, dogs barking, etc.) and also seeing evidence of someone on their property in the form of cigarette butts outside their windows. We do not have a clear description to share other than to say the individual may be wearing concealing clothing (hooded shirts, long sleeves, long pants, etc.). Incidents have occurred mostly during evening hours. We are sharing this information so people are aware of this situation. If you hear or see anything suspicious, call 9-1-1. b) Fast-moving vehicles on streets - residents report observing vehicles driving rather fast up and down our streets, especially streets adjacent to our pocket parks. The kids are out of school and using the streets, sidewalks and parks more frequently during the day. Please slow down and watch for pedestrians and kids on bikes, skateboards, scooters, etc. c) Butterfield Elementary School and Santa Rosa Wash bridge - the new school opens August 11th. Between now and then, we will hopefully see the installation of a traffic light at Honeycutt and Donithan and posting of school speed limits / signs. We're also going to see an increase in cut-through traffic on Butterfield Parkway once the bridge construction at Santa Rosa Wash is in full swing. Please watch for pedestrians, especially children. Also, a reminder that the next Block Watch meeting is Monday, June 30th, 6:30pm at the Recreation Center Meeting Room |
