This is something I have not heard about for awhile.  The last I read the city was supposed to start the bridge on Honeycutt over the Santa Rosa Wash in early spring.  Well it is early spring and no signs of progress.  Just curious if anyone knows something about this.

I was wondering the same. It looked like they were starting the project, but they just moved around some dirt and put up some "No unauthorized vechiles" signs.

Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

Maybe the construction contractor is just waiting its turn to file a lawsuit against the city council!

I hope not, but after nearly 3 years of watching the way our local governing body works, nothing surprises me anymore.

Just another half finished project, that Maricopa sees on a regular basis.

The thing that amazes me is, why don't they finish what they started?

Maricopa is becoming infamous for starting a project and bailing out on it.

The city is too busy with POA. When the Council gets all of their ducks - MA Maricopa and rental deals - lined up for themselves, the developers and others; only then if there is any money left will the taxpayers wants - you know, bridges, libraries, hospitals, airports, etc. - be considered. Remember taxpayers come last in Maricopa. What to do - START RAISING HOLY HELL!

Just don't go too fast on that dip! I just had to replace brakes (normal) and roters (not normal) because the dealership mechanic said when you go too fast on a decline or incline and then start to break, it heats up your roters super hot causing "hot spots" on the roters. So that when you normally break, you will feel a pulse before it comes to a stop. OK, this is just my layman's understanding of what happened with my roters. Anyway, I go super slow on the decline and incline...I wasn't like breaking the speed record on them anyway, but I am more aware of the potential problems down the road.

I suspect the city has forgotten that Honeycutt Rd is part of their juristiction. Why the infamous "dip" wasn't addressed years ago is beyond me. Also, I have no idea why they started to widen the road between Porter and White/Parker Rds and just left it. Its been paved for months and all they need to do it add landscaping and bury the power poles but it just sits there. I am tempted to take the orange cones down myself and just start driving on it..

I am all for open and clear govt and holding people accountable but some of you need to learn basic research methods. This is on the city web site:

http://www.maricopa-az.gov/web/business/bids.php

It lists all bids. Currently there is a bid for a library building, print services and a BRIDGE over the Santa Rosa Wash.

The bridge should have been built long ago.  The fact that it wasn't is just a glaring example of our city council's inability to prioritize critical issues it has faced.

The basic research methods you speak of quickly disclose this fact to any business considering locating here.

In the bid (link above) it says:

"A pre-bid conference will be held at City of Maricopa, 45145 W Madison Ave, Maricopa, Arizona 85239, on April 16th, 2008 at 1:00pm MST.  The purpose of this conference will be to discuss questions from prospective bidders and clarify the plans and specifications.  A tour of the work site will also be held on April 16th, 2008 at 1:00 pm MST."

So that might be what you saw.

I think they are on the right track.. they put a light at the Case Grande / John Wayne Parkway intersection because when they actually start building the bridge and have to close Honeycutt at that dip, you are going to have a high volume of traffic - people finding ways around (either Smith-Enke or Casa Grande interesections). I suspect that is not the reason for the light, but I feel it will help if this project develops.

We can only hope it moves along before the monsoon season hits. Otherwise it will be next year before this gets done. They should have had bids done in December and started in February. It could be done in a few months if they had. Oh well.

Ny updates from anyone on this topic? The last I had seen was that the city had accepted a bid to complete the bridge over the Santa Rosa Wash and it was $750,000 under the budget for the project. Any word on start for construction? I love looking out my window in the back and watching the wash turn into a small river. " Living the Dream".

Your rotors became warped and it's not due to that dip. Usually warped rotors are caused by overtightening of the lug nuts, usually during a tire change or rotation. Someone didn't pay attention to the right amount of torque that your car requires and the extra/uneven torque warped the rotor. In many cases it can be fixed by machining the rotor back into shape. In some instances however, the rotor is too far out of spec and must be replaced. But there is no way that dip would cause your rotors to warp.
