I accidentally got a really bad sunburn!! ( in other words I do not have to accept responsibility for my stupidity!)  Haven't had to deal with one  this bad for a long time, if ever.  I have used aloe vera before but  does anyone have any other ideas?  Thanks.

Cold water, and do not put lotion on it, the heat needs to get out. The best way I have found is leave it alone or keep cool or cold on it. Lotions help only to make the burn last longer.

The bailout is wrong. We should not do it. My God this is the stupidest idea ever. Bush is stupid if he signs this. But he has done other stupid things

Get some vinegar pour it in a a bowl. Get a towel put it in the bowl and soak up all the Vinegar. Dont ring it out to much and place that on the sunburn. The Vinegar takes the heat right out of the sunburn. It works so so so good. It doesnt smell pretty but it works.
I fell asleep on the beach once in San Diego and burnt myself so bad, I thought it was going to blister. My room mate talked me into doing the Vinegar thing. I just layed a towel over my whole back and went to sleep like that. When I woke up the next morning all the pain was gone.
I have a spray bottle with vinegar in it now. After I am out in the sun, I just spray it all over and rub it in and I never get that painful sunburn thing anymore. I smell like an Easter Egg but it beats being in pain from a sunburn!
Good Luck

I agree that vinegar works the best on sunburns....

it works because it is an acid, and it helps to restore the normal PH of the "acid mantle" of your skin which is slightly shifted higher due to the chemical reaction caused when you burn your skin.....

I often keep a bottle of white vinegar(less smelly) in the refrigerator just in case i get a sunburn..... the cold vinegar is really soothing!

Also.... believe it or not, aspirin is great for helping to relieve the pain slightly... and also reduce some of the swelling you can have with serious sunburns.....

Yes, its tannic acid. Another remedy is to boil water and put a tea bag in it. When it cools.... slightly squeeze out the excess moisture from the tea bag and wipe the bag on the burn. The tannic acid helps soothe the sting.

 I hope that helps!!

find the purest aloe gel possible and keep it in the fridge. apply liberally.
take motrin for the pain/inflammation

if it is blistered, see a dr just to be sure infection doesn't set in (I"ve had this happen YIKES it was awful)

wear sunblock next time Sorry. I've been there, it's rough. it's going to take a while. be patient

Aloe Vera works wonders. You should always keep a large container of it on hand, just in case. The time to be looking for it in the store is not when you already feel like a lobster! You can get it at any drug store or most grocery stores.

It is also good for any burn because it is antibacterial, it cools the pain and helps to reduce scarring. Best of all, you can grow it in your yard and use it right from the plant, if needed.

Hope you are feeling better soon!!!

When I first moved to Arizona....... and suffered my first really really bad sunburn (from tubing the Salt River).... I learned the hard way that I was allergic to aloe vera.......so, if you haven't used aloe products in the past.... and you want to try it on a sun burn... please take it from me....try a "test" on your skin first before you slather it on.....

I suffered a really bad one too, My skin was all scaly, it stayed like that for about a good month. I didnt think it would ever go back. People told me that you will burn faster in AZ and I didnt believe them. I thought they were all crazy. Maybe it was just because of the reflection off the water, but I burned pretty badly.
