LA Fitness is doing pre sales for their Maricopa Club in front of Bashas.  They will be building a 2 story facility where Mountainside was going to build.

I'll believe it when I see it. pre-paying for anything not built, especially in Maricopa, seems like a good way to lose some money!

I hope so, I love LA Fitness. Hopefully by then I will be out of my contract w/ Anytime. LA Fitness doesn't do contracts and the monthly fee is the same as Anytime on a 2 yr contract.

Will they have a pool? I joined Lifetime in Tempe and I love the pool.

Info came from the LA Fintess personel in the lot at Bashas.  LA Fitness also opened a large facility in CG recently which can be used until the new one is finished.  This one will have a lap pool.  You can cancel your Anytime contract by paying a $50 fee.

Hello, I am Brian from Anytime and it is only natural that I am aware of rumors of other gyms coming into the area. OK so here is what I learned. Around 2:00 yesterday I heard that LA Fitness was selling pre-memberships in the Bashas parking lot. I went over to see what was going on and 3 guys in LA Fitness shirts were already taking down the tent. I wasn't wearing anything from Anytime so they asked me if I was a member of LA yet. I said no but what was the deal? They said that they just built a place in Casa Grande and were investigating the spot by Fry's. First thing I said was, "You mean you are selling pre-memberships but the spot isn't even locked up yet?". He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Yes, we sold 23 memberships today". I said how can you do that and he said that they have locations all around the valley and if this falls through then you can use any of the other clubs.

When I got back to my office I spoke with Eileen Murphy of Zell Commercial Real Estate and she said she was in contact with the leasing company for the Mountainside location and nothing had been done so far. She also said that she called 2 other LA Fitness locations,
spoke to management and the guys in Maricopa had no authority to solicit pre-memberships when they haven't contracted the location here. Both locations did say that Maricopa would
probably be the next logical choice for a location but thats it.

Look, we were prepared to have Mountainside here, competition is all part of a healthy life. I am writing this because gyms get bad reputations and I was surprised by what the sales rep said. So take it with a grain of salt, what you do with your money is your choice but do the same investigation I just did and let me know if you get other information. And to confirm what Maytag said, he is right, $50 is the worst case scenario to break our agreements.

Drummer, what the heck are you talking about? Are you saying you were/are a member of Anytime? I will bet you $1,000 right now that you only paid $50 to end your agreement. But in the end I bet you are lying. Wanna bet?

Brian,

We can discuss it via PM if you'd like. I'm not trying to make your business look bad.

Thanks Brian, after realizing the above on Saturday, understanding that not having all the details; rendering nothing, however, the same resolution of conceptual understanding.

There's plenty of fat people in Maricopa to support 3 or 4 more gyms.  Can't we all just get along?

Yes then lets discuss it, because you are simply lying. It is our POLICY to charge $50 cancellation fee and nothing more.

Does one have to sign a contract to go to Anytime? Here is how you can combat LA Fitness Brian. LA Fitness has a crazy long commitment they try to sign you up for, with large cancellation fees. Just have monthly contracts and more people will stay and/or come to your gym instead.
