I have a beautiful quilt top that I've made for a baby shower (tomorrow   and I am having serious issues with my machine quilting it.

I'm looking for someone to just bounce ideas off of, to try and troubleshoot the problem.

When I sew, it skips stitches. The needle goes up and down and makes holes in the fabric, but the stitch is large enough that I can put my finger through.

To troubleshoot, I've played with the tension, played with the stitch length, changed to a walking foot, changed the needle, rethreaded the thread and the bobbin.

HELP? I'm desperate!

I machine quilt and ran into your exact problem. Unfortunately, your timing is off. On your machine that is. If you know how to repair it yourself you can, but I had to take my machine in to be fixed at the fine price of $98. I'm so sorry!

Hmmm, maybe you could take pictures of the top and put that in a card. Let her know you'll have it done before the baby's born...

That happened on the last quilt I made, after I had put five of them through my machine without tuning it up in between projects. I ended up using my MIL's cheapie machine and the quilt looked really bad (to me). I have high standards for myself as far as my work goes.

Urban Cowgirl, this doesn't help for this occasion but I just did a website for a woman that does long-arm quilting. If you would like her information for the future please send me a PM. I'm really sorry you had this unfortunate problem right now of all times. Good luck to you!
