I know a few weeks ago Maricopa tested positive for westnile virus, now we have the first person to be diagnosed with it. I know over the weekend the mosquito's were horrible. Is the city doing anything to combat this problem?

It’s not a glass half full (optimism) or a glass half empty (pessimism)—it’s half of a glass of water (reality). Expend your energy and mental capacity on something worthwhile!

they are spraying.

first case in the GREATER maricopa area! it's not centered on the city of Maricopa alone.

Pinal County health officials announced Tuesday that an adult male in the greater Maricopa area is the first human case of West Nile virus (WNV) in the county for 2007.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

I spoke with Pinal County Enviromental Health and they were back in town spraying on Wednesday of this week. They have also treated 20 green pools in town with Vector control chemicals. If you have a house in your neighbor hood that has a green pool please call me so I can contact Pinal County and have them treat the pool.

Thank you,

Over by Pima Butte Elementary School there is a ton of water. It was full of frogs the other night that were singing in the rain. Wow! How I would hate to have my backyard right there. The noise was crazy.

Anyway, last night there was still a lot of water just sitting there. I am sure after the rain last night, there is a ton more today.

It is pretty gross to even see that swamp. Is there anything that could be done about all that water? It was kind of cool to watch the frogs, but then I don't live there and have to put of with the noise either.

I don't have a pool, but a friend of mine has an above ground pool that turned green - what does it mean if it's green? She was having a really hard time draining it.

A green pool is one that is chemically unbalanced and has algae growing in it.

All pools in ground and above ground need to be treated with chemicals to remove the algae and bring back in balance.

It doesn't necessarily have to be drained to be brought back to swimming condition.

I've sent you a PM
