Alert | I received a notice of violation today about "not keeping the asetheics of the community by maintaining my landscaping. Please remove weeds in front yard and side yard and maintaing landscaping." Ummm, I did some work over a week ago. My house was "observed" to have these violations on 05/07/08. I have no weeds. My landscaping is maintained. I'm not sure what they heck they are talking about. My front yard looks infinitely better than nearly all the houses around me. I'm writing a letter to contest the violation. It's ridiculous. | | | |

Also did they send a picture with the violation to show what they saw in your yard?
I dont think they are picking the worst looking houses and sending violations, your neighbors might have gotten them too. As i understand it they take pictures of violations, so they have proof to show that your yard has weeds.
And when you call to discuss the violation. see if they can send you a pic of your yard that they observed. | | Money isn't everything. Everyone just thinks it is... |

Alert | He can send out letter to those who clean there yards yet I have a person by me who's garage door has been open 1 foot for over 2 months now with cats going in and out that look like they have mange. Now all his junk seems to be falling out as well. Plus the person has weeds that are over 1.5 feet growing in the cracks of the driveway. I know someone lives there as well since both cars move daily so where is there letters and fines?!

if you are paying that much attention to the condition of the mail boxes then you prolly have a well kept yard and should not be getting a letter in the first place.
also if you are that annoyed by the dirty mail box. take an old rag with some ajax on it and whipe the mailbox down. We all have to do our part. and i personaly have not seen any weeds in my part of phase 3 but if i do see them in the common area i'll be sure to pick them.

Alert | Well said Wifi. I think people need to quit relying on the HOA for EVERYTHING and take 5 minutes and fix whatever is irritating them. Not to toot my own horn, but I maintain my front yard and now both of my neighbor's houses because no one lives there. I don't complain to the HOA and wait 2 months for them to clean it - I just do it.

Alert | My point was I take very good care of my yard, NEVER PARK ON THE STREET, and wasting time on a letter was bs, they probably went to far on my neighbors side and blamed me. I will ignore the letter once. The second time, they will get a phone call about boundary lines.
As for the mailbox...I pay $62 a month for THEM to clean that up not me. That should be their 1st priority not my yard, that is my priority. But they don't make money off of fines by cleaning up common areas, do they? When and if I have to go and clean the mailbox or any other "common area" I will then charge them $62 dollars to do so. That is how life works. If the HOA doesn't know that by know they will sure know after dealing with me.

Alert | I'm glad you take care of your yard and don't park on the street - that's the very minimum that's expected of a homeowner.
When did you get your weed violation? Kriss should be taking pictures of all violations, so he should have proof of weeds in your front yard or you are right and he got the wrong house - the proof should be in the picture.
I also pay $62/mo but I am willing to put in extra effort to help maintain the neighborhood and I don't ask for anything in return.
And I don't agree with "that's how life works." That's how life works if you are only willing to do the minimum asked of you and aren't willing to go above and beyond for anything or anybody. Would you ask to be compensated for being a kids soccer coach or for being on the HOA board? Try being proactive and helping other people out - it's a better feeling than complaining about everything that's not being done. | | | |
