Guess what New York, some pizza place in Downtown Phoenix was named the best pizza in the country by a New Yorker. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of either right now. I suffer from CRS.(cant remember sh:t)
They only serve takeout and I hear you have to wait in line quite a while to get a pizza.
Has anyone else heard of this place?

They put up a bunch of ugly boxes and JESUS people bought em!

I grew up in Brooklyn, then Staten Island. That is New York City, Upstate New York is the suburbs, it doesn't count.

ummmmm, actually in my case, "Upstate" is more like nearly southern Ontario, Canada(literally lived on the border).....and "city folk"  from "downstate" were usually just the folks that came up to our area on summer vacation.

My husband and I just returned from visiting his son & daughter in NYC and we brought back 2 loaves of bread from a bakery in the Bronx which is the best italian bread I've ever had!!! Mrsgeno - my college roomate at UB was from Baldwinsville & I hear ya about winter. I DO NOT miss 110" of snow!!!!!

I grew up on Long Island.  I thought upstate was Westchester county and anything north of that was Canada.

There's a Nathans in Mills Mall.  My friends were down from NY a couple of weeks ago and they said NYPD Pizza was the closest to NY pizza that they have had.  The subs aren't bad either.

Nyfiggy - my husband wasn't craving Nathan's but Sabrette hots. We had some while we were down there but I also brought a package home to savor!

Syracuse NY here..

Did you know you can get Hofmanns out here? There's a place on Scottsdale Rd, just south of downtown Scottsdale called NY Sausage company... They have'em.. (Western NY people should probably know of Ted's in Tempe)..

Wegmans really has to come here. They would completely clean house in the grocery market.

And a Dinosaur BBQ. (I used to work across the street from the original one).

And some sort of real pizza place. Oregano's isn't too bad.

FYI- You can make your own salt potato's, we do..

Buy the small white potato's and add the salt Not the same as buying it with the salt already, but it works well enough.

We usually bring our own Grandma browns back with us.. But I think we're planning on ordering a bunch online soon..

I'm orginally from the south side, but lived all over 'cuse (and very glad I got myself out of that hellhole on the southside..).. Liverpool, East Syr, and finally had a house out in Bridgeport before we moved here.. The wif is from Camillus..

We tried NYPD a while back up in Scottsdale, and hated it. Never went back.. Probably a back batch or something...

You can either order the Dino BBQ sauce online, or you can make it yourself.. I have the recipe book they put out.. Made the sauce a few times (and in turn, made the beans...)..

Have you notice that the sausage around here is either flavor and no spice, or all spice and no flavor? Need to order up some Gianelli..

We'll be heading back there for the Fair, since the state fair here is more like a field days....

The name of the bakery is Riccobono's.  I know about them because we used their bread for our Philly steak and hoagie shop.

Riccobono's  184 E Chilton Dr, Chandler, AZ - (480) 545-0535

They also make great cannoli's and italian cookies.
