06/25/2008 11:20 AM Alert

I am spitting mad, we know the rules on parking on the street at night.  We got a warning from the HOA about parking.  My son is required to bring the company truck home two nights a week because he has to head in the opposite direction so it's more convenient that he brings it home Wed. & Thurs. night.  Since he can't park in the street he has to stay those nights by his friends house instead of here because of the regulations.  He comes home at work at 4 and leaves here at 7pm as not to break the rules.  Whoever this busybody was called his work and said that we are breaking the rules. NOT!!!  His truck broke down on Friday night.  He worked from 4 until 10 at night and brought it here so the mechanic could come and fix it.  He parked across the street on the side of my neighbors house.  My comment is why did you call his work COWARD and not leave your name and number.  Why did you say that he parks there every night?  Were you trying to get him fired?  Why don't you go and pull weeds or pick up dog poop or cigarette butts that are scattered all over?  I am heartbroken that we own our house yet our son is not allowed to live with us two nights a week now you have to make waves because he parks here a couple of hours when it is still light outside so he can have dinner and shower those two days.  Shame on you!

Thanks for the support, I noticed in my original I put 4 to 10 it was 4am to 10pm too late for the mechanic to come out. I can't believe people are so cruel. I would love to find out who this idiot is.

Hi Sedona Gal - I always see the Orowheat truck parked at the Duke. Maybe you could see if the Duke would allow your son to park there on the nights that he has to take the work truck home. Too bad your neighbor is a jerk!

RED thanks for the suggestion but I'm afraid it's too late he's in his routine and I know he won't do that. He leaves at 4am so we would have to drive him there in the morning then pick him up when he gets back which isn't convenient because we'd have to always be on call those two days. Our HOA really made me mad when we wrote to them after about a month they finally wrote back, they said "park it in your driveway" Real smart since it would be hanging out in the street so that would defeat it's purpose. They gave no other alternatives or solutions. I am so disappointed in our HOA with the money we pay. I will tell you this, I will find out who he is come hell or high water so I can tell the chicken poop what I think of him.
Thanks for the support.

I feel sorry for your situation Sedona Gal. I, myself, may be a lot of things, but I don't spy and snitch on my neighbors. I draw the line there. I think a lot of people are beginning to realize that HOA-communal living (and that's what it is) is not all it's cracked up to be. You really don't have any right to do what you want with your own house. Someone else is regulating your life. Hopefully, eventually this issue of HOAs will go to some higher court, and they will rule that they are unconstitutional (which they are).

Proud conservatives happily living on our acreage in the beautiful mountains of Hidden Valley with no HOA.

I so agree with you, I understand about not wanting a truck parked in front of their house, but a few hours and you get this freak calling and complaining. Heck a lot of people have trucks parked out in front doing services for the residents a lot longer than my son is parked here. Whoever did this should be so ashamed of themselves. I feel so bad that there are so many rules like the basketball hoops and things like that. You buy a house for your family and who ever did this ruined mine.

My son did the same thing in Ahwatukee and we got a letter. His truck was in our driveway from 10pm til 6 am. ONLY ONCE and we received a letter. We figured moving to Copa that stuff wouldn't happen. Sorry it happened to you. I know it is very frustruating. I have always said if I find out who it is, they will have a pile of dog poop on their front step some evening.

What's equally as stupid is that they built these houses so close together and the streets are so narrow that it is dangerous to have guests park their cars in front of your house! Equally mind-numbing is that the driveways are slanted (to save space, of course!) I can't have my child ride her bike on the driveway, as she will roll smack into the street!

Sorry to be off topic, but the HOA has to consider the physical limitations. Why isn't there an area set aside at the end of a block so that oversized vehicles, as well as guests, could safely park? All the HOA can do is offer nasty letters without trying to think of a sensible resolution. I guess that's also what you get when your average HOA rep is just flunky who has no idea how to deal with people on a professional leve.
