Yesterday the service was terrible all day!!  Anyone else experiencing phone connection problems, i.e., connections breaking up, dropped connections.  It seems that Orbitel cannot handle the traffic........?   I called them this morning, from work, they indicated that I should call them from my home phone, when I'm having the problems. Well, if I can't get a phone call out or in, how do they suppose I should call them??  The rep said I  "should use my cell phone", hmmm.. I don't have a cell phone, sooooo....I'm thinking the service is not worth  it.  What are some other thoughts on this matter?  Good service, bad service??  Their internet service seemed overloaded as well, of course.  I'm thinking they just can't handle the traffic.  Maybe it's best to go back to Qwest?

Sounds like the experience I had with other VoIP providers on Orbitel's network.

I have vonage and don't have that issue. I also got a DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem with QoS and it is supposed to help with that.

I also have Orbitel VOIP, but it isn't THAT bad.
Sometimes,I do get a few dropped calls here and there, but overall, it's worth the money.

One wierd thing is, that my wife can't call our number from her work. It always gives a busy signal when she tries.

I've had this happen with regular VoIP services. You'll have to call Orbitel to get them to fix it. It may not be at their end but with the area code and first three digits of the number you are calling from they should be able to get it fixed.

Thanks, I'll do that.

Well, I called about 10 days ago and they  would get back to me when they fixed the problem. I still haven't gotten a return call from them.

They also said they never heard of the problem, I had with their phone service...yeah right!

We've had horrible service with the VOIP thorugh Orbitel. They've been out here endless times in the past 2 years. We were told at one point that another local company (Quest I assume) was blocking the calls from our line. I frequently miss calls, they go straight to voice mail or I cannot call certain numbers, bad echo, terrible noise. For those who have had those issues...DO NOT bother to get them to come out. They came out I kid you not, probably ten times. It remains unresolved after 2 years of problems. The only reason we haven't changed is lack of options.

What is VOIP? I am trying to decide who to use for my phone and internet service. I am not able to get Maricopa Broadband in my neighborhood. So, I guess it is between Qwest or Orbitol. Any suggestions.....
I can see that a lot of you dont like or are having problems with Orbitol.

We have Orbitel Voip, or whatever you call it.  When I call my fiance's office from home.  At times it'll say on his caller id that i'm calling from somewhere else.  I'd say maybe 5 x's out of 10 it'll read a different number than our home number.  Voip has it's issues just like everything else in Maricopa (you've probably read those in other threads as well).  I assume it's inevitable in every new growing city.  Just think, a few years from now we can all laugh about it.

We had an awful time with echos on our phone, no one could understand me because of the echoing...
