I have heard alot of good about Arizona Virtual Academy. AZVA.com I believe is the website. It is part of the nationwide K-12 program. I have a friend in the Army and she told me the military is thinking about using this program as an option for those families that want to. I have a nephew and several friends that have been happy with it. I know they have an information seminar in Tempe on the 4th that would have good info for you. Good luck. That seems to be an upcoming trend for many.

How can such a thing exist? If you are taking your elementary school kid to an online facility to learn you should be put in jail for child abuse. This is the most ridiculous thing I have heard of.

That is so funny that you say that.  Do you realize how many 100's of kids are being homeschooled just in Maricopa?  There are countless oportunities for the kids to socialize with peers and I can pretty much guarantee they wont be hanging with gang members!  LOL!

I am an Arizona state certified teacher but when my niece who is WAY behind came to live with me I decided that the best "fit" was AZVA. I have really been impressed, but it is NOT for parents that do not want to be active in their child's education. The K-12 curriculum is really challenging and can be expanded to meet those kids who are gifted or down-scaled easily for special needs students. She has only been in the program since January and has moved forward about 3/4 of a year in that amount of time.

As a parent you do also need to make sure that your child gets the socialization that they are missing in school. Thanks to the programs through parks and rec, that part is easy.

I know my niece LOVES being able to do school work in her pajamas on occassion and likes being able to take field trips more often than once a year.

Cost to parents, by the way, is zero for AZVA....they cover everything from books to the computer!
