I have compared our HOA to others in the phoenix area and we are by far paying too much.  Take a look at Power Ranch HOA in Queen Creek $65 includes pools, walkways, clubhouses, parks, etc.  Same with Johnson Ranch in Queen Creek $60 month, includese trash pickup, 3 pools, clubhouse etc...   If our HOA is not going to provide these sorts of amenities then we should not be paying $84 a month.  All they are doing is discouraging others from wanting to buy homes in our community and driving down our home values.  All the projects they said they were working on appear to have stalled.  What are our options?

Karen and I are rooting for you!!! BTW, you forgot the 90cents!!!!

Seriously though, we all know we are getting bent over, but it will take a lot of hard work, a committee and harrassment of the board to get much done. Tech, we don't have a say and they don't care.

I do think it is worth the fight, but Karen and I have already discussed how we don't want the job of 'ring-leader'!

Oh, hi Karen - hope you are feeling better!?!

Off the subject a bit here, but I saw the wonderful lady Chris (the HOA) lady at Native a few nights ago and she's lucky I didn't throw the highchair my son was sitting in at her. I have a 1 and 3 year old, my son wanted to walk around while we waited for the food. Neither of my children are very loud or were they crying. They just were typical kids. She had the never to say (noticebly loud) " she needs to keep her kids on a leash" as she fed her 7 year old a carrot. I ofcourse had a few choice words for her (noticelby loud) so she could hear me. But how dare her be so rude, guess she didn't fiqure I knew who she was. Done venting

I am feeling better. not 100%, but I can atleast get things done now (slower than normal).

I'd love to be on a committee to help loose this hoa, but I by no means have the time to be the fearless leader.

Anyone wanna volunteer for that job?

Does anyone know the girl's name at the park during our summer meeting in August/September timeframe?  She had done her homework.  I'd like to get her information and start up the committee.  She'd only have to be involved to give me the information, I/we could do the rest.

I agree, we have nothing to show for our HOA fees.  The girls in the trailer are just doing their jobs, let's not be rude to them.  But, we will be heard.

Vegetarian- old Hopi word for "poor hunter".

ok, so it sounds like this group is feeling like doing something.  I'm sure everyone has their own list of complaints but we should get together to get the ideas all in 1 place.  If we centralize our efforts and information, that will be a good start.  Plus, it will point out what we are missing.  We can use the girls in the trailer to our advantage too.  If they want Tortosa to be as good as they say they do, then they should be more than willing to help, right?

PM me if you're truly interested in doing something and not just knowing what is going on.  We can report to this forum as to what happens and a status of our actions once they are identified.

We dont have a say in what our Hoa charges. They have Us and they know it. Sorry to say. By next year I have no doubt we will be paying $100.00 per month. We wont have a say untill 3500 homes are built and 75% owned in the area and that will take at least 5 years.

We are all aware of this and I think we all agree withyou.  I think our purpose should be to hold them accountable for what they have promised us and have not delivered on.  There are violations and concerns all over Tortosa.  We just need a centralized and focused way to get them to the HOA so they are addressed.  We know the fee is excessive so let's make sure our $$$ is being used wisely.  If anything, our little group can be a sort of "checks and balances" along with helping them do the best job they can as an HOA management company.  Changes are in the wind...

I noticed awhile back that they have money put aside (that we pay) for an audit? Maybe we should find out how we go about that and if its truly a independant party doing the audit? Might be a way to find out where the money is going.

Great idea among many.  I think the cost breakdown that they sent out last summer is going to be one of the many things we'll have to check out.  Keep the ideas coming...
