Hey,

I've posted before about BountifulBaskets.org and how awesome I think they are.   It's a food co-op, in which you pay a small amount in with a lot of people to get more purchasing power.  For $15 you get a produce basket every two weeks.  And it's FULL!  This is what we got this week:

1/2lb Green Beans, a stalk of Celery, a head of Lettuce, 4 Beefsteak Tomatos, 1lb baby carrots, 4 green bell peppers, 7 ears of corn, 2 white onions, 1lb red grapes, 6 peaches, 6 plums, 9 bananas, and a Tuscan Cantelope.

I challenge anyone to get all that for $15 elsewhere.

You have no choice in what you get every two weeks, but to me, that's half the fun.

Anyway.  I'm nto affiliated with them in anyway, other than a customer.  But I think it's a great concept to save money, eat better, and try new recipes.  If your family eats as many fruits and vegetables as mine, you wont be dissapointed.  They have two pickup points in Maricopa.  Check the website for more info!

That's awesome - how does one join the co-op and where do you go to pick up your basket?

Register on their website, www.bountifulbaskets.org. Create an account under EAST VALLEY. There are two pickups in Copa, one at the Stage Stop (MVD Building), and one at Pima Butte elementary school. Starting this wednesday, you will have a 7 day window to order. If you need help, post back, or pm me

I stopped getting baskets after I picked one up while in town at a gilbert location a while back and the maricopa produce was NOTHING compared to the quality of the produce up in town. I've had one person tell me the quality has improved, but I haven't brought myself to try it again.

I also, quit buying some time ago. Most of the fruits in the last two baskets I purchased were way too ripe and not good quality. The veggies were even worse.
I can get about the same quantity (sometimes more) at Sprouts in Chandler; better quality than what I was getting in the baskets, and don't have to throw or give away food that we don't like.

Sorry to hear that from both of you.

I have had no issues with the quality. And the cost is probably half of Sprouts.

I really like my baskets of fruits and veggies!  I have had no problems.  I just can not wait until they come up with a chocolate basket! yummy

You know, I quit getting them last summer for awhile then picked back up when the weather cooled off and they seemed better. This summer I've purchased three or four and they have all been great. As for the chocolate, they did have See's Candy at a discounted rate for Valentine's Day!!! I've also purchased bread (regularly), granola, spices and cheese. I love trying the different things they offer occasionally.
