The Panthers played a great game today against the visiting Toltec. They dominated play from the beginning thru the end. Unfortunately, they were unable to find the back of the net. They had many opportunities, outshooting Toltec 14-2. Most of the shots were on goal, but too close to the goalkeeper. The keeper did make some fine saves from point blank range. Toltec scored the lone goal midway through the third quarter. They took advantage of the lone defensive lapse by the Panthers, who otherwise played stellar. Most of the game was played on Toltec's side of the field. The fullbacks and midfielders did a great job controlling the midfield to push the ball to the forwards. The Panthers closed out the game with a fury of close range opportunities. They were even on a drive that was deflected as the final whistle sounded. This was a better performance than their first game lst week. Toltec did what it needed to do by making good plays in front of the net and scoring on the lone opportunity. It was a tough loss by the Panthers. But, I was glad to see the improvement from the first game. They dominated the game. The played hard through-out .The Panthers go on the road to Picacho April 17th for their next game. GO Panthers!!! |
