My 6 month is very interested in food and Im excited to give him food.  He chowed down the baby cereal then I started baby food. Im not sure if Im doing it right, he eats 1 container of baby food a day for the past 4 days and Im breastfeeding him like usual but trying to introduce formula as well to ween him from the breast.  Now every night Im awake all night with him as he screams in pain! I give him gas relief and orejel (because hes teething) and still no luck. Did anyone experience this? Or know maybe what the problem could be? Im thinking its the formula or teething just really sucks. Im going to talk to my doctor but I was hoping someone had some tips.  I need my sleep back!

I know when I introduced my children to formula, they couldn't handle the lactose. I put them on soy formula and the gas went away.

I would definitely talk to your doctor though...he/she may have a better alternative.

Good luck and get some rest! =)

perhaps the indroduction to food and formula at the same time is too much for his tummy? Perhaps hold off on the formula until he's a little more used to the food, then bring it back. It just might be too much change all at once for his little system.

Okay, Im going to just breast feed like usual and feed him the same amount of food that I was giving him and hopefully I make it through the night. (fingers crossed)

Update, Doctor suggested using lactose free formula since his tummy cant handle dairy. So I'll probably wait a few more months of breastfeeding till I do that. Hes currently loving green beans and chowing down like usual! Lost weight and weights 22 lbs at 6 months and 27 in long! Yeah for my healthy chunk!

Are things going any better?  If you'd like some weaning information, or more other breastfeeding support,  just drop me a reply... I'm the local La Leche League Leader!

how did they come to the conclusion about the dairy? Did they run tests?

Lexmark...

On a positive note, know that when my children were old enough to start with just milk, they did just fine. It was just the lactose filled formula that bothered them. Once they turned a year old, I weaned them from the soy formula to milk by making a half and half bottle...after a few weeks, they were good to go and getting the milk they needed.

Good luck with everything! There is nothing worse than a fussy baby...but at least you have taken the right steps to get it figured out.
