I have been reading the posts for the past few days and is seems that here in Tortosa people are very unhappy about the HOA, the rules, the weeds, the general lack of luster our neighborhood has compared with others. I just wanted to give some food for thought and some new information. Here are some of the breakdowns from other neighborhoods here in Maricopa as listed on MLS.

HOA fees/community

190 quarterly/Villages at Rancho El Dorado

155-190 quarterly/Maricopa Meadows

191 quarterly/Acacia Crossing

145-175 quarterly/Rancho El Dorado

187 quarterly/Magnolia & Hickory @ Glennwilde

65 monthly/Santa Rosa Springs

156 quarterly/Alterra

85 monthly (includes garbage collection)/Rancho Mirage

These totals are posted under individual listings on the MLS for these homes and most are an average for the community, but I think here in Tortosa we are miising something because we pay more than all of these communities and we do not have the same ammenities.

Why is our neighborhood so different from the others? Why do we pay more and get less? NO lakes, NO walking paths, NO splash pads for kids, NO working watch tower, NO common ground maintenance (it is ugly), NO bathrooms at the park, NO lights for the sport courts, I could go on, but you have all thought the same things.

We are being taken advantage of.

WAgirl...thanks for the exact figures...but most of us already knew that we were being had by our HOA....dont know if youre new to the neighborhood...its not always easy to tell by looking at someones post total because some people just come on to read and sign off without adding their two cents...but...at our meeting in the play area with our two "HOA representatives" many people commented on how our fees are so high when other HOA's have many more ammenities and we were told that we cant compare HOA's that it was like apples and oranges...which is bogus in my opinion..

As far as I know there is no regulation over HOA's and we basically have to take whatever they give us. Its almost like legal organized crime. At least thats how it feels. I would love nothing more than to take all of the information and submit it to a board or a lawyer to investigate but I dont think theres anyone that will listen.

Take them to civil court for not enforcing their own rules.

After looking around I beleive the Attorney General Terry Goddard is who we would contact if we truly believe something is wrong here.

I think that they are walking the thin line. What they'er doing isn't right but at the same time they aren't outright breaking any rules.

Remember in civil court the burden of proof is a preponderance of evidence not without a reasonable doubt. Food for thought.
